If you step out of the Central station you see the cute little Hotel Fürst Bismarck. The other three pictures were taken from the same spot.

Part of the Central station

Never seen so many Smart cars as I saw this day in Hamburg, even the police is using them:

Shopping street, only taxis and busses allowed.

Monument for the dead soldiers of WWI (40.000 sons of the city gave their life for you)

The Alsterarkaden were built in 1843 by Alexis de Chateauneuf

Unusually warm and sunny for april. Sometimes there are summers with only a few days +30°C.

You cann see the St. Michaelis Church in the back

State Opera of Hamburg ont he left (you'll see the place where the spectacular new opera is going to be in PartII)

There are two big canals (Fleets) going trought the business district

Stunning city!
What about the constructions around the new Opernboulevard next to the States opera ? I have heard from a relative there are many new U/C s and projects , does anybody have more infos or pics of this western portion of down town ?
What a stunning city! I can't believe this thread got such very little attention. This is the best Hamburg thread I've seen on this site. It really shows what a civilized and elegant city Hamburg is!

Who cares that they have hardly any skyscrapers? Skyscrapers do not a city make!
What? Only 6 replies for this amazing thread! This can't be true!
Man, I love your pictures!
Amazinnng!!!! Incredible...
Hamburg is so underrated. Why isn't there a bigger buzz about this place? No one seems to talk about Hamburg.
Beautiful! I spent a wonderful one year of my childhood in this city.

In Germany people talk allot about Hamburg. Its our second city. But they should probably increase marketing overseas. Everybody seems to concentrate on Berlin at the moment. Which is not justified IMO.

People concentrate on Berlin because it's an amazing location. Though not "beautiful", it certainly knocks the socks off a lot of cities in terms of interest, things to do and uniqueness.

I am currently living 3 days a week in this gorgeous city! I love it. Very high quality of life and awesome nightlife and culture. There are 104 consulates in the city making it after NYC and Hong Kong the city with the third highest number of consulates in the world. People of almost 200 nationalities are currently living in Hamburg.
been there last month, what an incredible city! :)
One of my favourite German cities. Can't wait till 09', headed there in June.
Keep it up , this underrated beauty one and big one . Hamburg consists also out of some wonderful bohemian and artists neighborhoods with a lot to discover and many pretty rich areas with architecture like in West London and uncommon for Germany .
