Expanding Hamilton's airport is a far better option than building the Pickering Airport. That idea was just silly in the first place.

City Hall has just finalized a budget that includes $5.3 million for the airport and sometime next month is expected to finalize aerotropolis proposal.
Guess I was a little too quick on that lol.....

Airport spending pulled from budget
March 28, 2006

A city plan to spend $5 million this year on the airport has been removed from the 2006 budget, at least temporarily, because of disagreements with the private company that operates the facility.

Ward 5 councillor Chad Collins convinced councillors on Monday to remove the spending and refer it to the city's airport implementation task force, a sub-committee of councillors scheduled to hold a rare meeting on Thursday afternoon.

“We seem to have some disagreement with the operators in regards to whose responsible for what in the contract,” Collins told the budget meeting. “It's mentioned … that this is to pay for runways, which we are responsible for, but it also notes parking facilities and taxiways, and there's nothing in the contract that suggests the municipality should contribute towards those items, and so I have a great concern with passing this today.”

The move seemed to take others by surprise, including Mayor Di Ianni.
