Sudoku is a logic-based placement puzzle born in Japan, and now have attained international popularity (particularily in Western Europe and North America).
(It is a trademark of puzzle publisher Nikoli Co. Ltd in Japan.)

If you have not, try it here!

*The name "Sudoku" is the Japanese abbreviation of a longer phrase, "Suuji wa dokushin ni kagiru," meaning "the digits must remain single".

Here in the Netherlands millions of people make Sudoku's. It starts last summer when it was issued in a free daily newspaper. Now every newspaper has it's own sudoku.
I thought it would be a hype for a short time but it still there. They try new forms of sudoku like Kakuro and extra lines like a cross in the puzzle.
It is actually not a Japanese puzzle. Just the Japanese gave it a name.

I make sudoku's everyday in train. It makes your trip shorter. I still like them and they can't be difficult enough for me.
