India is a vast country with different styles of architecture and one of the best way to experience the architecture is by staying in the heritage hotels of India. The hotels use to be former palaces and forts of the Maharajas and after independence a lot of them turned them into hotels. There by generating income to keep them in good condition.

Although in some states there is a official "heritage" status in the hierarchy of hotels but I will be posting pictures of hotels regardless of that status. I will also be posting images of new hotels trying to imitate the old ones.

Hope you Enjoy :)

Bolgatty Palace, Kochi, Kerala

Info: Built by the Dutch in India, Bolgatty Palace is located on the island popularly known as Bolgatty Island in Kochi, Kerala. One of the oldest existing Dutch palaces outside Holland, this quaint mansion, built in 1744, by Dutch traders. The building was then the Governor's palace for the Dutch and later in 1909 was leased to the British. It served as the home of the British Governors, being the seat of the British Resident of Cochin during the British regime. In 1947, when India obtained independence, the palace became the property of the state and was later converted into a heritage hotel resort

These are some of the best and the well known places or places to stay at. The exotic experience we would have during our stay there is just like that of a king. These places with just some renovations have converted the once a palace of the kings to the heritage hotels. This is indeed a very good thinking that has been implemented beautifully.
