box.
Park hotel mentioned in the post above is a newer building from the socialist era that replaced an older building. Vila Bled is from the time period you reuire.
Box021, in your first post you were also asking about the Grand Hotel Union in Ljubljana, here you find the detailed information and some photos, old and new: http://www.gh-union.si/executive/index.php
THE STORY OF THE GRAND HOTEL UNION
As early as 1905, while setting up the modern urban image of Ljubljana after the great earthquake, they built one of the biggest, finest and most modern in southeastern Europe, i.e. south of Prague and Vienna – the Grand Hotel Union. It had 87 rooms, a modern restaurant, a café, a large concert hall (today's Union hall), a bowling alley and several salons for ceremonies. The hotel also had an elevator, central heating and telephone, which was rare for that time.
Upon its opening, the Slovene magazine “Slovenski narod” wrote: “The Hotel Union is the first great city hotel in Ljubljana. Not even Graz or Trieste has a hotel like this, not to mention other cities like Ljubljana.” The hotel was built in an unbelievable 18 months and the opening ceremony lasted for 7 days.
The Grand Hotel Union was built according to the blueprints of a Czech architect, Josip Vancaš, a HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connoisseur" \o "Connoisseur" connoisseur of the Viennese architectural trends. He emphasised the exterior of the three-floor Secession building with decorative elements and added vivaciousness with the rounded and domed corner tower, which is still the southern entrance to the building – more precisely, the café. As well as the exterior, the architect provided lavish interior decoration, which has mostly been preserved.
In over a century of existence, the Grand Hotel Union was an important co-creator of the political and social life in the capital and in the wider Ljubljana region. The hotel constantly strives to act as a socially responsible company by supporting various actions, humanitarian organisations and individuals. Considerable emphasis is placed on energy saving and care for the environment. The Grand Hotel Union's reputation stems from tradition, reliability and high-quality service.
^^ in s cim utemeljujes to? js sm svoje mnenje utemeljil.
Thank you all for your kind help and info!
Portal recently launched, but unfortunately, although its all free, none of the invited members from Slovenia (Palace Portoroz, Grand H. Union Ljubljana, Grand H. Toplice Bled, Grand H. Rogaska) accepted the invitation to be presented
Few months ago, we finally welcomed Slovenia to the portal! Hopefully new hotels will arrive soon, but at the moment, there are 2 great members to present us with their Past&Present stories!
Grand Hotel Toplice, Bled (1854 / 1931)
Palace Hotel, Portoroz (1910)
