Well, i don´t speak Dutch, but i´m gonna post this in english and use a dutch translator

i´m gonna make a thread in the Brazilian forum about a small brazilian city settled by dutchs called holambra, altough i didn´t found much pictures of the city itself, i found a lot of pictures of the expoflora, an event that happens in the city every year (that´s why people are dressed up tradicionaly and dancing everywhere).

so i decided to post it here too, hope you all like it :eek:kay:

it´s a small city near São Paulo, with a population of 10 thousand people and it´s knowed as the "city of Flowers".

Altavista translation :D

Haha! It's fantastic! Looks weird, not to say surrealistic... thanks for sharing!
bizarre! How come these people are doing the 'Dutch thing'? Or are they native Dutch? Many of them sure look like it.
You got your own Aalsmeer! (bloemenveiling/flowertrading)
well considering that the city was founded in 1948, lot´s of people there are born in holland, the youngs must have borned here, but the city is almost totaly dutch.
:D
Thanks!
Oh my god, does everyone in foreign countries think we're walking on clugs dressed as 'zweeuws meisje' working in a mill?
hahahahah
no, they ARE dutch, the city was builded by dutch imigrants in 1948. the pictures where taken in a festival, that´s why people are dressed with traditional dutch clothes.
because as you can see the city got filled with tourists from other cities and states, and the tourists wants to see the traditional culture.

that also happens in cities in brazil settled by germans, italians, swiss, portuguese...
The houses don't look that very Dutch, but I can see some resembles. I think it's fun to know there are Dutch people everywhere over the world!
Zoals het klokje thuis tikt tikt het nergens... daar een stuk langzamer in elk geval....
Thanks for sharing. Very nice pics.
Well, it's a nice idea, but it looks very ... ehhrmm... toeristic. Also, the house aren't looking as they should look like (although I can see some similarity...) The traditional costumes are the most horrible things I saw in the whole serie :)

But I understand that people who want to know more about the Netherlands, and go to that village, want to see things like that :eek:kay: Thanks for sharing!
You guys have too see that these dutch 'towns' in Brazil are very very small. It's almost like a 'meeting point', a 'square' in the middle of many farms (owned by dutch) around. Unlike german or italian cities in south Brazil, that are larger.

yeah, the city is small and lives from tourism and flowers, it´s a small town, so what they offer people it´s like "disneyworld".

but the pictures doesn´t show the town itself, show only the center of convetions, and just a littlebit of the city, but the city as a whole it´s much less "scenary" like ;)
