The Cullinan (Union Square 6)

The two blocks in The Cullinan will be Hong Kong's tallest residential towers at 270 metres. The project on this prime waterfront location will have glass curtain walls and sweeping views of the harbour. The glass façade will give the twin towers a futuristic image in line with the nearby International Commerce Centre.

Kowloon Station Development Package 6 was named after the 3,106-carat Cullinan diamond found in 1905; the largest diamond in the world. The two largest polished gems from the Cullinan diamond are now mounted on the Scepter and Cross and Imperial State Crown in the British crown jewels, and similarly, the two towers will stand as brilliant gems embodying royal prestige and setting a new international benchmark for luxury residences.

^ No. It's absolutely atrocious. The Union Square complex is architecturally horrible. The only redeeming feature is the beautiful ICC. The rest is total dross. Look at the details on that building. There appear to be glass panals with a yellow tinge and a blue tinge. The yellow parts seem to be arranged almost randomly. They've tried to break down the mass of the building with various splits and sections but these too appear to have no aesthetic plan or logic. They've dealt with the ventilation badly too. It's a patchy, inconsistent, and wholly unsatisfactory building. Hong Kong builds some of the finest scrapers and modern buildings in the world but continues to blot its copybook by erecting architectural garbage like these, the Nina Tower, and those oppressive high-rise residential "walls".

Abysmal:

The south tower was T/O just a few months ago, it will look much better after the protection film (blue and yellow)being removed.

my complaint isn't the yellow protective film, but the fact that the windows can be opened and opened vertically... personally i don't find that appealing...

Back to 2005,when AIG Tower is topped out and workers inside the building were still doing the interior jobs, windows were opened vertically for more fresh air.

Updates were formerly with the Union Square construction thread. Way long time ago, Union Square as a whole was one thread, and gradually the focus came on The Arch & Harbourside, followed by ICC. The Cullinan was neglected but the two towers are tall enough to be in their own thread .. should've done it earlier though.
