Not really sure if this thread belongs in this forum, but if it needs to be moved, it can be moved. Anyway, I was inspired by a recent photo thread of Honolulu to investigate some of the project underway there. I came to find that there are quite a few, and I feel that the city deserves a development thread of its own. So here is a list of the projects occupying Honolulu at the moment - at least those that I could find out about anyway.

Under Construction:

1. Keola Lai - 42 Stories - 387 Ft.

2. The Watermark Waikiki - 37 Stories - 350 Ft.

3. Nine O Nine Kapiolani - 33 Stories - 332 Ft.

4. Ko'olani - 47 Stories

5. Moana Pacific East Tower - 46 Stories

6. Moana Pacific West Tower - 46 Stories

7. Ewa Tower-Ward Village Shops - 17 Stories

Proposed or Approved:

8. World Trade Center Hawaii - 31 Floors - 400 Ft.

9. Outrigger Beach Walk Tower - 350 Ft.

10. 2121 Kuhio - 28 Stories - 300 Ft.

11. Kapi'olani Akahi Continuing Care Retirement Community - 26 Stories - 294 Ft.

12. 800 Nu'uana Condominiums - 21 Stories - 220 Ft.

13. Royal Kahili Tower - 16 Stories - 208 Ft.

14. Capitol Place - 39 Stories

15. The Grand Waikikian - 38 Stories

16. The Pinnacle Honolulu - 35 Stories

17. Puaena - 28 Stories (31?)

18. Kaakako Waterfront Development to include a 25 Story tower

19. Na Hale Kai Tower 1 - 20 Stories

20. Na Hale Kai Tower 2 - 20 Stories

21. Na Hale Kai Tower 3 - 20 Stories

22. 1700 Kalakaua - 17 Stories

23. Kulana Hale Apartments II - 15 Stories

24. Iwilei Elderly Housing - 13 Stories

25. University of Hawaii-Manoa Dormitory I - 12 Stories

26. University of Hawaii-Manoa Dormitory II - 12 Stories

27. Pacific Quay Office Tower

28. Pacific Quay Hotel

The quality of buildings and projects in Honolulu has improved a lot from the earlier "semi-commie blocks by the sea." Good stuff.

It seems like underground parking isn't very popular in Hawaii. Is it because of heavy the rain you guys get? Anyways, these are all great addition to Hawaii's skyline. If you want a sticky, you can ask a mod.

Perhaps I just got an incorrect picture. Those two do look identical. I'm not really all that familiar with Honolulu's projects, but I figured there should be a thread since there are some really nice projects here. I googled Nine O Nine Kapiolani again and came up with this one. Perhaps this is the correct rendering:

Royal Hawaiian pics?

I know it's not nearly as exciting as skyscrapers, but does anyone have any recent pics of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center redux? The mall's website has nothing past the beginning of April, and has no press releases or newsletters since February.

Some of the projects that I have noticed here have many floors and look great, but I am curious as to what the current height restriction is for the city of Honolulu?? Is it under 500ft. or something like that??
