How will Bahrain treat me?

Hello everybody,

I have just joined this forum and I would really like to thank all of you for providing such useful information about Bahrain.

My residence is in Saudia but I never happened to visit Bahrain. But now I am interested in coming there on a short visit soon. Although there are already many threads explaining what we can do in Bahrain if we go there on a short trip, but I couldn't find any information about the 'interaction with the people in Bahrain', which is what i am more concerned about.

Is it the same as in Saudia? or the environment is totally different? Moreover, will I be able to meet people from different countries also?

And regarding the temporary residence, can anyone give me approximate figures for two-three nights hotel rent? I would appreciate if one can specify the range and also some popular names so I can easily reach them.

Looking forward to your cooperation,

Best Regards

shiKra

Hey Shikra... It depends on what sort of hotel/accomodation you're looking for.. 3, 4, or 5 stars?

As to meeting people from different countries.. I don't think that'll be too different from saudi.. Unless you go to the right places... Cuz we actually have a night-life, unlike saudi, so u'll find some expats in certain bars/clubs/resturaunts, but still, i wouldn't say too many..

The difference in interaction.. Well, i would think (but perhaps i'm slightly bias) that bahrainis generally come off as more educated.. Better english/communication skills, thats for sure..

Also, they tend to be nicer.. Bahrainis tend to be interested/curious when it comes to expats sometimes..

You might not necessarily be able to tell right away, but if u worked here after working in Saudi, i'm sure u'd notice..

Plus one more thing, u'll notice bahrainis drive much better.. Just yesterday a crazy qatar was cutting in line in front of me, and then a few mins later a saudi suddenly without using his indicator turns wrongly in front of me, crossing to the 3rd lane across.. Ridiculous.. No road etiquette... No manners.. and just so wrong, lol..

Thanks B-Patriot

I really liked your complete and comprehensive answer, thanks!

Regarding hotel, let me say it should be either 2,3 or 4 star. Just tell me a rough range to have an idea, not exact figures.

Secondly, regarding interaction, that seems very welcoming, because I am myself a very social person and I was looking for a place that would welcome social and cultural interactions :)

Third, night-life, of course, i am equally interested in it and I wonder who isn't ;-)

Lastly, regarding the driving style of Saudis, I am also frustrated at them as much as you are, believe me! :), and it is a good news that Bahrainis are different and more sensible in driving.

I thankful for the information you gave and looking forward for another helpful reply :)

Regards, and have a nice day!

Don't worry just come, you'll have a culture shock if coming from Saudi.

Looool, B-Patriot, you sound very nationalistic more than patriotic.

eshtam!! khalaitna ma neswa baizah looool, ana men Qatar by the way, o ta3al el doha and you'll notice that people drive much better here than in a lot of different places in the gulf

Well, regarding cultural shock, I think i'm not vulnerable to it but if the interaction with people is nice, then I'll be shocked :) Because here in Saudia, it is way too poor :-(

Secondly, could you please help me out that If I want to stay for one or two days which options are available for a good and reasonable accomodation. Should I look out for a hotel or something..?

And I would also like to know that for the very new comers what are the most welcoming spots of Bahrain. I have already heard too much about Seef Mall, The water Park, Wild Life and Exhibition Road. Which place do you guys suggest that should be visited first?

By culture shock I mean things like seeing other dress colors than black and white. Women driving, Women working at stores, banks, police, restaurants, Bahrainis working as taxi drivers, petrol filers, etc. You will see Bahrainis starting work at 7:00am and finishing at 5:00pm. Malls and shops don't close for prayer, hundreds of differences.

Adel

I got your point :), thanks!
But for a person who is entering the Bahrain kingdom, what do you guyz suggest..? The must-to-see and must-to-visit places? I am much interested in meeting new people rather than just viewing classical museums and all that (if you know what i mean :) ).
I am not having good answer but I think they should treat you as nice human being !
