Hradec Králové



- regional center of Eastern Bohemia
- 40 km from polish border
- 110 km E from Prague
- 150 km NW from Brno
- 180 km SW from Wroclaw, Poland
- population: 94 255 inhabitants (2007)
- lowland character, at a junction of Orlice river to Labe (Elbe) river
- first larger town on Labe way from its source towards Hamburg
- the Oreb hill above the town, Orlické mountains (35 km) i Krkonoše mountains (60 km) closed to
- town of Jan Kotěra and Josef Gočár, who built valuable interwar Hradec Králové
- dominants: gothic cathedral of the Holy Ghost, the White Tower
- muzeum of Eastern Bohemia, Uniwersity
- town chateau
- following a research, best Czech town-cycloways network
- trolley-bus (and bus) network
- new football stadion supposed to be under construction since 2009

Couple of photos took by me this weekend. I'm too lazy to modify them so they doesn't look very well, but I hope you will like them.

I have to say I like this city. It's very clean and its architecture is gorgeous. I regret I haven't got more time to explore it. Maybe next year...

Reconstructed area around main railway station looks pretty good:





















Without those cars it would be much more beautiful. Is anybody going to do something with it?

I have to say I like this city. It's very clean and its architecture is gorgeous. I regret I haven't got more time to explore it. Maybe next year...
No wonder, HK has been considered as city with the best living conditions in the CR.
