Saudi Arabia is expected to break ground in mid August on King Fahd Cultural Centre, a Sh170 million cultural centre and shopping mall in Hurligham, Nairobi.

The centre, which is scheduled for completion by December 2015, is expected to strengthen bilateral relations between Kenya and the Middle East Kingdom.

The Saudi ambassador to Kenya Ghorm Malhan told reporters in Nairobi that the facility will house banks, exhibition halls, halal food outlets and venues for public lectures.

“The centre will also see our people showcase and share their rich cultural diversities. This will help bring our people closer not only in business but also on social issues,” Mr Malhan said.

The project, which will be implemented through the Kenya Arab Friendship Society (KAFS), is also expected to provide opportunities for businessmen as well as space for artists to display their artistry.

The designs for the proposed King Fahd Cultural Centre were prepared by Adventis Inhouse Africa Ltd., a Nairobi-based architectural firm.

I'm wondering if Kenyans are also building a cultural center in Saudi Arabia ...

Sometimes, feels like some things can only happen in one way for Africa ...
