Dave my friend, this article is not full of hatred. This article is full of bad journalism. I am in university now and I studied bad journalism. I can point out a billions illogical fallicies with his reasonings. For example, "the latest freedom poll" is one. What is the hell is the latest freedom poll. Care to site the source?

Second of all, Article 64 of the Qatari consitution (which was approved by the vast majority of Qataris) states that "The Emir is the head of State. His person shall be inviolable and he must be respected by all." Therefore, this person did indeed violate the constitution.

Third of all, the author linked the suicide bombings with Qatar's funding of Hamas. Clearly, Qatar did not fund Hamas so that hit it will in effect sponsor suicide bombings. No other country (western) funds the P.A. so Qatar wants to advert a humanitarian crisis by funding the newly elected governemtn (which by the way were elected by US and EU supervised elections trhought Israel and Palestine)..

Just my 2 cents or 2 dirhams. ;)

^^... Yup, I agree with Halawala. It really sounds like "bad journalism".
That guy is definately a newbie, biased and full of BS! :bash:
it is the same with Africa which is portrayed to be a continent full of misery, Aids, war, genocide and so on and so forth for the next 500 years to come. Western media are full of stereotypes, they reduce the world´s complexeties by painting black and white images: Asian are all intelligent and industrious, Africans are all lazy and smelly, Arabs are all brutal terrorists and South Americans are all perilous drugdealers! That is their view on the world wrapped "sweeter" words, of course!
These journalist should be thrown into prison for writing such one-sided and bad articles.
Forget it.

Its not like his article gonna change anything.

and

Qatar and Iran stand is applauded. :)

^^ you've been too harsh, don't you think, throwing journalists in prison? writing an article that reflects someone's personal opinion is called "freedom of expression", either we like what he said or not.

throwing journalists in prison is a way of intemidation that only dictatorships resort to, not civilized nations.

but i have to admit that some parts of the articles are true. qatar is not a heaven for pure & true democracy, and our controlled media aren't preciesly BBC or The Times.

by the way, the danish cartoons ARE way out of freedom of expression. they're merely an insult to feelings of millions of believers, and that a total different story.

Guys calm down the article says the writer is a student of Arts at Cornell University..

Who gives a shit about what he has to say?? He is a student of General Arts one of the easiest programs to get into in North America... Heck he probably is dumber than some highschool students..

Ignore him, he is probably also influenced by his ethnic opinions on Arabs. Not realizing the kind of open and progressive society Qatar has become.
What can I say? These dingbats are full of Sh-t like you guys said. I really hate these biased freaks. They irritate me when I see people like that at school. So narrow minded it makes you sick. And at the end, you only get to say kiss my Arab a-.
any talk of "humanitarian" crisis is just propaganda by hammas to get money for terror, for example, the P.A refused Israel's request to open one of the passage points of goods into gaza for political reasons.
Of course nobody is even asking howcome Egypt is out of the picture when it comes to transport of goods into gaza, when there is a scapegoat to blame.
also nobody is asking how 1.5 million people think they can support themselves forever on terrorism and donations, and continue a 4% birthrate based on the fact they will get a free life by donations and free water and electricity from israel.

its a shame countries support terror by calling it humanitarian aid.
when you send humanitarian aid you send food, electric goods or clothes, you dont send money to families of suicide bombers and shipments of bullets and rockets.

i think you guys should calm down. this is an article that appeared in the 'opinion' column/section. anyone can send in opinions to newspapers. this does not represent the views of the majority of people at cornell...

it sounds to me like this person...who appears to be jewish (don't know if that has anything to do with it...i don't want to jump to conclusions) isn't happy with cornell's decision to open a school in qatar.....maybe she'd be happy if they opened it in israel....you know...that country where they treat people so well...specially people who find out about their secret nuclear program..

You might think Hamas is a terrorist organisation, but Arabs believe that they legimetly won the elections. Dont get me started into how miserable the Palestineans live in their occupied lands. I don't want this to turn into an Arab vs Israel conflict, but the bottom of the line--Arab support Palestinean Authority from the begining and to the end.

I agree that the PA sometimes illegally uses the money for unhumanitarian purposes, but Palestineans are indeed living in a crisis because of Israel's ongoing occupation.

I agree on this one.
palestinians are living in an ongoing crisis because they resist peace and vote for terrorism. like they supported saddam hussein when he attacked kuwait, like they supported bin laden in 9/11 dancing in gaza, like they supported zarkawi bombing iraq and jordan.

just angles, what can you say. pure little angles blowing up to spread metal bullets into civilians.

gaza has a border with egypt, they can go cry there now, we finished babysitting gaza and we arent to blame that egypt doesnt want to hear of them as well, they dont need this trouble either.
maybe instead of importing al quaida terrorists they can think of tourists, but it doesnt go together.

ps. if they dont want to be occupied, the should get out of our lands.

Go complain somewhere else... I don't want this thread to get locked.
7ababi halawala ignore Source. There are ppl in this world who love to debate and discuss objectively using facts and logic. These ppl are both good listeners and ppl listen to them when they talk. Then there are the others. They are opinionated, emtionals motivated, and are very narrow minded. No matter what you tell them, they reject everything they say and come back to square one. They selectively choose facts which agree with their point of view.. i.e. Source ! Ignore him.

Although I believe $50 M is a lot of money and it should monitered carefully to assure it is spent where it is needed, nevertheless I stand proud with my Country's dicision.

For those arab haters who call us treaters and back stabbers, let me see your countries donating money. For others who say we support terrorists by donating this amount of money.. go to hell, our money our business.. bycott our oil and gas for all I care.

True, so true.
You guys. Source is right on that one. I agree that they are in need of the money, but after all they are not going to use it properly. Instead it will go to the hands of the corrupted people. They really should keep an eye on them and the way they use it. There are poor people that don't have money to eat
