Muvattupuzha is the central town of midlands (idanadu), an older centre and isn't having the characteristics of Thodupuzha and the lowranges towns in the Kottayam district. Muvattupuzha would have grown by leaps and bounds if the district was formed. It is surrounded by populated midlands area and towns like Kothamangalam, Kolenchery, Perumbavoor, Piravom, Koothattukulam etc. Muvattupuzha also has a large network of highways & roads connecting it, which Thodupuzha also benefits from. For a comparison, comparing between Aluva & Perumbavoor or Changanassery & Thiruvalla - Muvattupuzha is like Aluva or Changanassery while Thodupuzha is like the other dependent towns. The bond is there. Now a days Thodupuzha has no popular car showrooms compared to neighbouring town like mvpa. All showrooms are focusing on muvattupuzha.Even medium brand like hyudai has no showrooms in thodupuzha.Compared to mvpa, perumbavoor vehicle registration rates are very low in thodupuzha.Only thodupuzha town was crowded surrounding areas are less populated. But in the case of mvpa outer parts are crowded like pezhakappaly, kolenchery, vazhakulam etc.I think thats the reason.
