Well basically Indian railways along with different tourism boards of different Indian states operates luxury trains which cover important tourist destinations in those states. Currently there are around 7 of such luxury trains criss crossing major tourist tracks.

Basically pre independence the different maharajas use to have their own trains fitted with all types of luxury they could buy with their tonne loads of money. After independence these trains fell into dis-repair then in 1982 the Rajasthan tourism board along with indian railways launched the "Palace on Wheels" ; India's first luxury train inspired from the trains of the maharajas. These trains ferried tourists across the desert state of Rajasthan with it's forts and palaces and then went to the Taj Mahal and ended the trip in Delhi.

So yeah hope you enjoy the pictures! :)

Man... are these a product of Indian railways?? can't believe it! Never ever traveled in these trains would like to go on such a trip one day.. But if we look out of the windows, just to get a view, all that shitting poor people will be visible.. the area generally near the tracks of most places is the worst part of that place.
How much should a journey cost in .say .. golden chariot?

You are heavily under estimating the beauty of India. This is one of the views from RROW:

cc:india luxury trains

That's the fort of Jaisalmer in the backdrop.

Anyway the tarrifs change every season and for the golden chariot, the per night tarrif for a single bed is 17100 INR and the whole week for one person, single bed is: 119700 INR

The tarrifs include:Tariff is inclusive of accommodation on board The Golden Chariot - Pride of The South/ travel/all meals / Conducted Sight-seeing Tours/ Entrance fees at Monuments / Parks / Palaces and Cultural Programmes.

Doesn't include: Drinks, tips, laundry, telephone calls, video camera fees, SPA Car, Business Car Facilities, liquor and other items of personal nature.

The part I watched was just horrendously boring. I think the only part where I laughed, slightly, was when he orders for his brothers. Some of the shots were also annoying and felt as if the director was trying too hard to go for the kitschy, retro look. Anyway as you said each to his own.
