Sorry but I will not allow this thread to be an excuse to post any US International issues. This thread was once used before by some guy (not sure if he is Fil-am or plain American) for non-stop anti-Trump rhetoric and has little to do with Philippine International Relations and Foreign Affairs. Its such a mess that I don't want repeated.

We already have a VERY active Donald Trump, Iran tensions and US News threads in the News Section of Skycrapercity that you can participate as much with your heart's content so post such discussions there please. Thank you!

DFA to cancel all diplomatic passports issued to ex-top diplomats

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Saturday said it will cancel all courtesy diplomatic passports issued to former top diplomats.

“The DFA Office of Consular Affairs (OCA) will be issuing an order shortly, canceling all courtesy diplomatic passports, and requiring their surrender for physical cancellation,” a statement issued by the DFA read on Saturday.

“The practice of issuing courtesy diplomatic passports to former DFA Secretaries and ambassadors shall henceforth be discontinued,” it further read.

This comes after former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario said he notified the DFA that he will use his diplomatic passport for his supposed business trip to Hong Kong.

More controls on entry of Chinese workers looming
June 11, 2019 | 10:34 pm

THE CABINET is working on a set of rules to be enforced across various agencies that will require foreign workers to acquire work permits and taxpayer identification numbers, signaling a crackdown on the unchecked entry of Chinese workers, the official said.

The President’s spokesman Salvador S. Panelo said in a statement Tuesday that the agencies agreed to the new requirements at a meeting with President Rodrigo R. Duterte on Monday night.

Duterte accepts offer of Chinese government to conduct joint probe of Recto Bank incident
By Bernadette D. Nicolas - June 22, 2019

President Rodrigo Duterte has accepted China’s offer to conduct a joint investigation on the June 9 collision of Chinese and Filipino fishing vessels in Recto Bank, Malacanang said on Saturday.

This despite Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr.’s pronouncement that there will be no joint investigation on the incident, which left 22 Filipino fishermen floating at sea but was rescued later by Vietnamese fishermen.

But the Palace said conducting separate investigations “may raise speculation and accusation of bias” while a joint and impartial investigation will promote the “expedient resolution of the issue” and will be in accordance with international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Yup. Glad to see this being tackled in an orderly, diplomatic and civilized manner. I hope this way of dealing with sticky issues, incidents in WPS/SCS will remain. This is only the beginning.

The best thing imo would be to allow the international maritime organization or an independent 3rd country to conduct an investigation without interference or obstruction and full cooperation from both parties involved, that investigation can then be compared with the other two .

They're bringing in a 3rd party in the joint investigation.
