I think we must establish a speedy rail line between Iran and Turkey. I mean, one may travel from Tehran to Istanbul or vice versa in not more than 10 hours.

I think that that would be a really realistic thing to do and a nother speed railway from tehran to isfahan to shiraz that makes it posible to travel from tehran to shiraz in 7 to 8 hours.

TCDD is establishing new speedy line from Istanbul to Ankara, where trains will do a speed of 250 km/h. I think with that speed Istanbul-Tehran is no more than 10h. All we must do, is extending this speedy line to Iranian border and Iran will build his part.

Iran just bought new train things to make the speed of the trains between mashad tehran 160 Km/h that will mean you can travel direct from Tehran to mashad in 4 hours.... But iran is also building a new rail that will make the track from tehran to tabriz 100 km less that will speed up the time it takes to get from istabul to tehran with a hour i think.

He noted that the volume of the investments made by the governmental and private sectors have created a special situation for the railroad transportation.

He further noted that the investment made to develop the lines, expand the fleet as well as equip the system of signs and connections have prepared the grounds for the activities of the foreign companies.

Many of the projects in the railroad transportation sector can be carried out in cooperation with the foreign companies, he stressed, citing as example implementation of the project of Tehran-Isfahan railway.

Iran and Iraq to Connect Railways

Tehran, 28 January 2006 - Khoramshahr will be connected to Basra through a railway which will pass through Shalamcheh.

“Based on an agreement between Iran Ministry of Road and Transportation and Iraqi authorities, Iran and Iraq will construct railways to be connected to each other,” said Seyed Ali Akbar Mousavi, director of Arvand Free Zone Project.

The route of the railway will start from Khoramshahr, continue to the border city of Shalamcheh and then will connect to the city of Basra in Iraq. It was agreed that Iran be in charge of constructing the Khoramshahr-Shalamcheh railway while Iraq will build the Shalamcheh-Basra railway.

The distance between Khoramshahr and Basra is about 35 kilometers, 16 kilometers of which is located inside Iran. Iran’s Railway Organization is studying the route along which this railway will be constructed.

Constructions of the said railways are expected to be completed by March 2007.

New Tehran-Mashad IC express trains.

Hello people! this is my first post on skyscrapers.

Has anyone here seen these new RAJA ICE trains on the Tehran-Mashad line yet? I dont know when they go into service.

Theres more photos here . I thought the interiors were a bit naff but I think RAJA may have specified Iranian manufactured interiors when they were ordered.

(Not saying everything made Iran is naff, just they may have had to make do with a substandard supplier since they might not have have found a good Iranian specialist for this type of contract.)

Thanx!
So what do you think? Have you seen these pics before?
Seems better than most stuff that has come before apart from perhaps TUSRC line 5 trains. The new pride of the RAJA fleet!
The first four or so are built at Maribor in Slovenia by Siemens Austria and the rest are to be built in Iran (16 units). Cant remember who by, Pars Wagon or something like that?

Im not a railway anorak by the way..
