I stumpled upon this article about the Nordhavn Metro extension:
http://ing.dk/artikel/130291-elkunder-betaler-for-metrolinje-til-koebenhavns-nordhavn

A part of the deal is to finance the metro by selling the power transmission company, KE Transmission A/S. When looking at their yearly profit report, it states that they have an operating profit of 35.2%! That's even more than Apple!

Apparently Danemark has some of the highest prices for electricity in the civilized world, due to taxes. Is it then reasonable that a public utility company is run with so fat margins at the expense of the public?

The company is in the process of beeing sold to Energinet.dk and a prerequisite for the deal is that the high profit margins can be kept. That's really an efficient noose that is tied around the neck of the danish electrical power consumer.
