coming from a guy who lived in HK for 15 years and some time in Tokyo and NYC, sorry but LA sucks... even though I've been living here for 6 years... until I see the new apts downtown get completed I wouldn't hold my breath
LA is totally overrated...
just because you've lived in those cities, you think that you can say los angeles is overrated without giving specifics? ok, let's play that game. let's see, i've lived in tokyo, hong kong, honolulu, guam, moscow, st. petersburg, kiev, paris, prague, budapest, bratislava, london, new york, washington dc and san francisco. i may be forgetting a few, but that's a pretty good list to work from. just because i've got more cities to compare to los angeles doesn't make that argument any more valid. so find an argument or you're just spewing dogma and showing how incapable you are of discourse.
i love many of the cities i just named and invariably, the natives were fascinated with los angeles and wanted to know what it was like to live here, they've all wanted to at least visit. los angeles has captured many hearts and minds internationally, has influenced culture greatly and the impact is immeasurable. what is overrated about it? there's always going to be a better beach, a better skyline, a better public transport system, etc. let's talk about the totality of los angeles. let's get specific
because your lack of a cohesive argument and so-called participation in this forum is overrated and tiresome.
i do wish we had a subway system like paris or washington dc. the beaches in guam are amazing, but then again it is in such close proximity to the deepest part of the ocean (the marianas trench) and doesn't support as large a population as los angeles. since this is a skyscraper forum i'm sure that many can weigh in on skylines from around the globe. has anyone here been just as taken aback by the view of paris from the steps of the basilique du sacre couer or prague from the castle at night? i've stood on top of the fort overlooking san francisco bay as well as coit tower and felt like i was on top of the world. these are all world-class cities, but i want to know what else others like about los angeles that can tip the scales in its favor that we want to live here. i have many reasons, i joined this forum to get insight and to see what universality those reasons hold. anybody else?
