Access to Meetings

Council, Cabinet and Committee meetings are generally open to the public to attend.

You can also submit questions and petitions to Council, Scrutiny Committees. Please click on the relevant links on the left hand menu for more advice on this or contact Democratic Support on 229 8818.

There will be certain occasions when Council Committees may need to discuss issues in private. However, this can only be done for certain matters which are set down in law for example, issues relating to an individual or commercially sensitive matters. The majority of business however is transacted in public.
Any particular examples of the closed-door policy? Are you saying all council meetings are not open to the public?
