Israeli rabbi: Honey-pot sex is kosher for female Mossad agents

An Israeli rabbi has given his blessing to female agents of Israel's foreign secret service, Mossad, who may be required to have sex with the enemy in so-called "honey-pot" missions against terrorists.

Rabbi Ari Shvat's ruling appeared in a study, "Illicit sex for the sake of national security," published by the Tzomet Institute, which studies the interface between religion and modernity.

But Schvat wrote that honey-pot missions are not just a thing of modern-day espionage - such as the late 1980s capture of Mordechai Vanunu, the Israeli nuclear technician who revealed details of Israel's nuclear program, or the January 2010 assassination of terrorist Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai. Both cases reportedly involved a Mossad female lure.

In fact, honey-pot missions are rooted in Biblical lore.

Queen Esther, who was Jewish, slept with the Persian king Xerxes around 500 BC to save her people, Schvat noted. Yael, wife of Hever, slept with the enemy chief of staff Sisra to tire him and cut off his head, according to tradition.

There is a catch, however, for married honey-pots. "If it is necessary to use a married woman, it would be best [for] her husband to divorce her. ... After the [sex] act, he would be entitled to bring her back," Schvat wrote.

"Naturally, a job of that sort could be given to a woman who in any event is licentious in her ways."

Male agents in Mossad apparently have no limitations on sleeping with the female enemy, as they were not mentioned in the writings.

Schvat's study was praised by Tzomet's director, Rabbi Yisrael Rosen, who added that "women employees of the Mossad are probably not going to come consult with a rabbi" before their missions.

^^lol:

I saw that piece in the Haaretz a few weeks ago. Why did not you post it when it just came out?

Ah...the Haaretz! It has about 10% of the Israeli readership. Perhaps 15% on a good day when it posts the Moshe Arens stuff. Oh, well, it aint easy to sell/package utopia these days.

So who reads Ha'aretz then? the Jewish Diaspora?
Extreme leftists in Israel, that's basically all, it's probably the only one-sided newspaper in Israel: While all of the other newspapers constantly present different political views, Haaretz sticks only to a single political view. Haaretz is the leftist Fox News of Israel, with much lower popularity.

lol, a world where objective journalism is labeled as biased by supporters of x, y or z, and where pro x, y or z journalism is labeled as objective by their supporters.

The mentality of the right-winger is truly worthy of deep study in erratic logic.

Lol, Haaretz is objective? If you think that it's objective you either don't know anything about this newspaper or you just don't know anything about the situation in Israel. It isn't about being right winged or left winged- a newspaper which constantly presents only a single political view is not objective, Haaretz is such a newspaper.

For example, about 2 years ago just before the operation in Gaza, an Israeli soldier stole around 2,000 top-secret documents and quickly went to a journalist employed by Haaretz. A few days later, an article presenting many details of the future military operation had been censored before it was published by Haaretz. The Israeli military soon found out about the soldier who gave the documents to the journalist, but that journalist who had those 2,000 documents just fled to the UK- along with the top secret documents of course. And guess what newspaper fully supported that journalist?

Oh, and it's also the only one of the three most popular serious newspapers in Israel which officially suggests its readers who to vote for during the elections. It's generally Meretz, which is obviously a far left party.
