JCMC Expansion

Jersey Ave extension

There is a lot of work going on on the sites by the Jersey Ave extension. I'm not sure if they are part of the old Crescent Park proposal or different projects on 33-39 Aetna and 36-50 Aetna. As far as I can tell it's just infrastructure work that may or may not be related to either of those projects...but there is a lot of work going on on both of those sites.

Holland Tunnel Pier Replacement - is complete, but doesn't seem open yet (I think it's supposed to be?). The park and walkway have reopened so you can once again walk all the way through.

Pier 6 - once supposed to be an office building or two, now slated for 5 residential buildings (and an insane amount of parking)

The end of the Ellipse pier, which had a park proposal rejected (for being too private)

Why are there so many utility poles at 370 First ?!?

There are lots of utility poles in JC. The city didn't bury utilities downtown so they're just everywhere.

On First Street specifically, a few years ago I thought they were burying them but instead they added (not even replaced existing) much taller utility poles with more wires, so that's probably why it looks even crazier in front of 370 First.

I've been saying it for years..the hideous telephone polls ruin the urban feel of JC...imagine having telephone polls anywhere in NYC?

I wish we could petition the city to spend the money to bury the lines. Or make the developers chip in for it too

I am happy to see the Al-Tawheed Islamic Center moving along and that they appear to be keeping the facade design. The renders look very unique and modern.
