Nice, a bit much for a small city. But there is not much to do for young tourists, maybe they get enough from a day of Jerusalem and do something modern.

But where is it exactly??? Somewhere between Yaffo-gate and the Dead Sea, that sounds like an Isreali showing the way around...

ok big deal, people go to see a movie in a cinema not for a design show
aha I walked on the sherover complex a few months ago, it realy has potential to look great again. A bit buzy traffic-crossings in the area allready, but touristicly fine.

Well Jerusalem is not realy small indeed, but the million people are spread out over the whole Jerusalem district, what is not that small either.
For the rest: I am not an American hippy or Hasidic Simcha-Tamid Guru. It's a bit negative if others are not alowed to say negative remarks, I'm not that dualistic or idealistic that I have to shape my life according to others who make such negative remarks.
In the many countries I have been, compared to them Israeli's are not the best always the best in having patience, but especially hard are feelings for directions to show where people have to go to, just being realistic.
Be healthy.

Avivster,Yetzirah231 no personal arguing.
Take your bickering elsewhere.
Rheintram, offensive remarks against groups of population and name calling won't be tolerated.
Everyone else, please take these arguments to the appropriate threads (hint: we have public transportation thread).

You're part of the problem when you say things like that. What if I said people live in Holyland for shelter, not for a design show? Would you feel the same way? It doesn't matter what it is. Good design should be a part of every aspect of our lives.

You have a point, but I think this case is more complicated then simple bad vs good design.
First of all with all due respect Holyland is way more visible in the city's skyline due to its height and location.
This cinema is barely visible outside its block.
Secondly, while I am not crazy about its design, sometimes people's taste changes over time and what was considered ugly becomes beautiful and vice versa.
Not to compare or anything, but you know Eiffel tower also was considered an abomination for Paris.

And last, but not the least if Cinema City really turns out to be a commercial disaster and nobody comes to visit, its never too late to demolish it and build something else.

On Sabbath I walked next to this building, but had no camera. Actually they are building now the third level above groundlevel, it seems. Somehow that must be the topfloof, faster then I thought.
It is still the carcass of the building, but you see the long funny shape it has.

Soon on a day I have less work or when there is more sun, I might take pictures.
But actually there is so much construction going on downtown and around town, a lot is changing for the good.
