Please track here all updates regarding Railway Developments in Gulbarga
I guess there is no harm in this... when Gulbarga can have separate thread for City Transport and why cant it have seperate thread for Railways looking at the recent developments more posts are related to Railways... Also this thread will help to get Gulbarga a sub-forum for sure...THIS IS UNCALLED,
Let us wait till Gulbarga gets it own forum, until then we cant have threads for each and everything of every city..
Mods please move the content to railway thread and delete this thread
Is there scope for further expansion of Gulbarga railway station.
I mean construction of 4 to 5 platforms in addition to the existing 4 if any plans like this is mooted in the future??
That's awesome!! Watering facility at GR!! I think it would have been better if it was planned between PF 3 & 4. Two trains could have been serviced simultaneously. Now only train on PF 1 can avail the facility.
Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, chairman, Passenger Amenities Committee, Indian Railways, has said that the works taken up at Gulbarga railway station will be completed by the year-end. “They will help boost the demand for a railway divisional office at Gulbarga,” he told presspersons here on Friday.
Mr. Narayanaswamy was here on Friday to inspect the ongoing works at the station.
Additional concrete benches, automatic ticket vending machines, battery-operated buggies, and another booking office are some of the facilities which are going to come up here. The construction of a new platform and widening of existing platforms; commissioning of escalators on existing platforms; building roof over platforms; construction of a food plaza; and building a carriage watering and charging facility would be completed by February-end.

Thanks for the detailed info Sunil.Towards Platform 4 there is less land as there is Railway quarters at the maximum they can build only one platform but if the railway quarters is shifting to new identified land then probably additional 2 platform can be built....
Towards platform 1 there was Goodshed which now is being shifted towards Taj Sultanpur station... so, at the maximum they can have rake parking, VIP siding etc...
So over all if Railways wants they can build at maximum another 2 (if quarters is shifted) platforms thats it not more than that....
Parallely they should develop Taj-Sultanpur as next terminus... and rakes can be parked in Sultanpur hence freeing the main trunk route in Gulbarga ...
