Better compensation package for Mahi --- Valapattanam Waterway
Minister Ramachandran Kadannappally said the state government is proposing a better compensation package for those who lose their land and land for the Mahi --- Valapattanam waterway. He was speaking at a meeting of people belonging to Kannur Corporation who are passing the artificial canal as part of the waterway. Those who lose their homes will get the market price regardless of its age and ten cents of free land to replace the house. The owner will also be given the opportunity to dismantle the house and use the useful items. Homeownership will also be provided for a stay until the new home is built. The land losers will also get decent prices.
The canal will be constructed in 40 m wide and 10 m wide on both sides of the canal.
At 25 km
The artificial canal is being built in 25 KM along three parts of the waterway.
The first section is the 9.2 km canal from Mahipuzha to Eranolipuzha. For this, 164 acres including 93 houses will be acquired. The canal is 850 meters in the second section from Eranolipuzha to Dharmadam river. 15 acres of land including 20 houses will be acquired for this purpose. The construction of the 15 km stretch from Ancharakandi river to Valapattanam river is under construction. Acquire 245 acres. 124 houses will be affected by canal construction.
