I don't understand how it is going to help disabled and aged people. That is way too many steps for them. There should have been a ramp with rails. Then it is too steep also. :doh:

The whole development plans in Kannur Railway Station is on wrong track . First they built an escalator in the south end of platform which is very far from main entrance, and not even visible from main entrance side . This escalator is being used by very few people. It should have been in the north end of platform near to main entrance.

The subway is going to be useless in near future, when 4th platform becomes reality. Majority of people will use 4th platform at east side entrance for journey to calicut side, leaving the 2nd and 3rd platforms mainly for passenger trains. Therefore they have to link the subway to east side entrance.

4th platform is not on the eastern entrance. 4 and 5 will be island platform. FOBs and subway will be extended to it.

The Kovai station subways have Lifts installed and escalators too.
This time please our MP make these enhancements to the expansion of subway.
Havings lifts to subways similar to Kovai hopefully.

Main entrance is going to shift towards escalator.. escalator is in good position when the entrance plaza junction will have completed

The Railway board has given nod to Thiruvannathapuram-Kasargod third and fourth rail track and Thalassery-Mysore new track.

Though fund is allotted and contract is awarded, construction of fourth platform is not able to start so far due the pipelines of BPCL lying in the railway station. Though the MP, Ms. Sreemathi teacher has taken initiative, work is not able to move forward since BPCL is waiting till the POL storage tank at Payyannur is getting ready.
