Getting better acquainted with my camera (Sony NEX-5N)... These are some photos mostly from the main business/reatail drag in Kansas City's South Plaza neighborhood, Main Street.

Starting at the library/Plaza Colonnade office building

Great, very nice photos from Kansas city
Particularly liked the wide-angle shots.

Is Kansas city a relatively new city?

In comparison to just about anyplace in your native UK, yes. Not really so much in the context of American History. Founded in the 1850s, Kansas City grew steadily after the first bridge across the Missouri River was built in the 1870s and boomed almost instantly into a massive rail hub. Still one of top three American freight rail hubs today. Became a major city on the American landscape in the first couple decades of the 20th Century. Most of the core of the city was built from about 1870-1920.

This area just happens to be a highly desirable area on the periphery of a secondary business/entertainment/retail district, the Country Club Plaza, itself built out starting in the 1920s. Much of the residential (and a some of the retail, I think) dates back to around the 1930's and the office didn't really take off until the past 30 years or so...

very nice set of Kansas photos.
Thank you! I appreciate the compliment and views

However, none of these photos were taken on Kansas soil. All in the state of Missouri...
