Math iko sida lol Thanks for the correction.i believe its $29 million not to 290 so please change that jaw dropping title. also i really think we need to revisit the kenya roads act and streamline and consolidate all this agencies into one with different departments to avoid redundancies and bloated offices. each of them has a director general and rarely coordinate.also who decides to pave certain roads in the city? kura or county gvt. because some recently completed roads in my neighborhood have boards saying kura and others say county coucil of nairobi. the county ones usually have cabro tiles and the kura ones are generally better built with accompanying drainage built to bitumen standards. if you drive arounfd karen you'll notice this confused patchwork of roads eg come down bogani east (cabro) join bogani (bitumen) turn left at nzohe rd (cabro again) then join kura rd (back to bitumen). im glad because 5 years ago they were dire roads but the mismatch and lack of coordination is abit annoying
Thanks for the info. The official name is Barabara plaza. Hope someone can change the title.
Yes, review of the road policy is good. Set standards of each road class should be clear. On merging them I agree only at the top but I hope it wouldn't affect the staff below the management. They are already too few in my opinion. Infact I would encourage more outsourcing to private companies on some of their work to beat timelines while get superior work.i believe its $29 million not to 290 so please change that jaw dropping title. also i really think we need to revisit the kenya roads act and streamline and consolidate all this agencies into one with different departments to avoid redundancies and bloated offices. each of them has a director general and rarely coordinate.also who decides to pave certain roads in the city? kura or county gvt. because some recently completed roads in my neighborhood have boards saying kura and others say county coucil of nairobi. the county ones usually have cabro tiles and the kura ones are generally better built with accompanying drainage built to bitumen standards. if you drive arounfd karen you'll notice this confused patchwork of roads eg come down bogani east (cabro) join bogani (bitumen) turn left at nzohe rd (cabro again) then join kura rd (back to bitumen). im glad because 5 years ago they were dire roads but the mismatch and lack of coordination is abit annoying
I think KURA is the implementing agency and the one funding the project can be either National government or county government depending on road classification. I think counties have limited road engineering and management expertise in-house. I think they also use KERRA for rural roads too. I have seen upcountry roads being graded by machinery branded KERRA.There are urban roads, rural roads and the highways. I am comfortable with the status quo but they should demystify who decides how and when urban roads. Maybe we blamed Kidero for KURA sins
^^ That exact question demonstrates the role of govt. in expanding urban centres. If you think about it, many other people/companies are going to move in to build houses and business around this place. In some ways it improves the value of land in that place too, in addition to bringing utilities to an otherwise underutilized area. Because govt. buildings are required to meet strict building codes, for example access to running clean water, sewage, electricity and roads, anyone building around here will have easier access to these utilities. A town centre will grow here really soon. I saw South C in Nairobi grow from nothing when they built govt. offices in Akiba area not too long ago.
I think it's a great idea. More government agencies should be moved from high density areas.I don't think a town centre will emerge in this area at all...This is next to the new Kenya Civil Aviation Authority Head quarters on the flight path to the runway..I highly doubt the Govt will allow any private building or apartments being built here..its a high security area not a remote area as implied by the post above.

Five from the video. Limited by flight path restrictions. How many floors?
I think this building is accessed by the north airport road that was closed due to security reason. We have other offices like HCDA in the area. There was even plans for Malls and hotels development in this area. The retail targeting greater syokimau and embakasy area. But with access restrictions by having one point entry for security checks I wonder if they will still go ahead with it. Developent may happen though they will be height restriction.I don't think a town centre will emerge in this area at all...This is next to the new Kenya Civil Aviation Authority Head quarters on the flight path to the runway..I highly doubt the Govt will allow any private building or apartments being built here..its a high security area not a remote area as implied by the post above.
