haha far from exciting but development and investment nonetheless....

about years ago on in my first job, i wa working on designs for a 30 storey student block here... seems the own has either changed, or just changed their mind!
The building changed hands in 2013

With this, bristol St residences and the one above the O2 being student accommodation aswel as the tesco development hopefully we can see some life moving to this side
Birmingham's fast becoming a university city.
I guess its good to see this building come back into use.

At a guess i'd say in the late 1990's at least half of Brums skyline consisted of empty buildings. We've come a long way since then.
Forward!!!

Is it here or just further along there was another proposal about 5 or 6 years ago?

I assume you mean the pollo hotel tower? That's on vacant land next to the other office block immediately next to the mailbox

Always was.

And that is a pretty tame refurb, it'd be better to blow it up and start over.
Kensington Central... it's very like the Kensington in London...

Good that another dead office block is coming back to life though.
I quite like the building in it's current form, doesn't this have a decent lighting scheme too? Seem to remember it having up lighters that look quite good of a night
Thanks for the update.

I think there was already a chosen contractor for this refurbishment. It was spoken about in the circles last year anyway but I haven't heard anything else since.

Also in regards to student accommodation. There is a potentially massive 500 bed student scheme in bath row due to go in for planning soon.

Hmm.. odd place to put many of the student halls in this area. I'd have preferred housing to extend Park Central for an increase in affordable private housing and to make the area more permanently lived in. Student Halls should be a bit closer to the universities that they serve - for example, around the Sandpits, out by The Vale/Selly Oak, up by Millenium Point, and New Town/Aston area.

Bath row is popular because of the train route to uni of Birmingham i would think.
There is loads of student flats on and around Bath Row, there has been dating way back into the early 90's as far as I can recall.

Its a great location for a manor of reasons.
'all manner of reasons' ...... sorry, shouldn't have done that!
Meh.

I suppose it'll do given the quality of architecture on this road.
