AK Antony went to Bangalore and visited Infy, TCS and Wipro campus, conducted discussions with their management and they started their operations in Kerala.

We need such initiatives from the government. This is going to be a picnic trips for the idiots in this committee like Arun Balachandran and all who doesnt know the ABCD of IT !!! He is the binami and CCL partner of Binesh Kodiyeri !!

Public money is getting wasted for their picnics !!!

He doesnt have any experience in IT to sit in that position. He got that position through his connections with LUDF smugglers in Kerala. This guy is a event manager. No connection with IT. Ommen Chandy government created a post for him in 2013 and appointed him as CEO in NRI TBI. Then Pinarayi made him IT advisor. These kind of LUDF boot licking idiots are spoiling the IT developments in Kerala :(

As per the current trend, the concept of gigantic Tech Parks is going to die out soon and instead smaller offices may exist to suffice the imperative needs. A good internet connectivity and robust data security can give you the opportunity to work from home be it anywhere in the world.

I think, it required the COVID pandemic to prove this. Companies now learn that tech parks and huge office spaces are overheads not just in terms of rental, but other expenses, travel time, housekeeping, cafeteria efforts and time in office, and many more.

Better video conferencing tools such as Zoom or the booming video conferencing tool development with advanced features is going to throw a lot of benefits for employees to work from their hometown and stay with their old parents in future than migrating to another city creating traffic chaos there and incurring a huge expense that is less in smaller towns or villages.

Google has already taken the initiative to recruit people from all over the world experimenting with this and I assume other companies follow suit. They will interview you from the comfort of your bedroom and If you are brilliant they recruit and allow you to work from your village or hometown be it Kenya or Vietnam or Fiji.

It is not from which city you work matters but your talent. Good internet connectivity, data security, and a safe and hygiene home environment will be enough.

TCS has already decided to go for 25:25 work from home in the future even after COVID as that is the trend. They want only 25% of their total workforce to be in the office at any time.

Who wants to travel to the office for a hectic day's work and again travel back in traffic to attend another urgent call later back home. Instead, you can enjoy a good private time with your family taking fresh breaths of air in your hometown.

Nobody minds going to the office if it really matters. Moreover, for such a scenario, who needs gigantic offices, it's just a white elephant any more. See, the pollution and traffic in Bangalore came down steeply but the IT workforce productivity went up as people are working from Kerala, UP, West Bengal at their comfort zone mingling with relatives and friends in the morning and evenings.

I have last gone to my office on February 27th, 2020. I have completed 6 important product releases since that day working from home till date without going to the office. I could have worked from Kollam but COVID prevented me from this.

We are going to see a paradigm shift in the work model, education model, and many more areas even after COVID.

In my product team, we have recruited 5 people since March 21st, 2020 and they are all working from home without seeing the office without any issues and with good productivity. The laptops were shipped to their houses and configured online proving the efficiency of virtual configurations and troubleshooting. Interestingly, those who troubleshot were also working from home.

The only disadvantage, I see in WFH is the number of calls that increased compared to the previous client and onshore calls.

Overall, its how you manage the calls but definitely work from home has proved that it has no way affected the productivity of any of the IT companies but improved the job satisfaction and reduced leave also. I am not sure if these huge parks will be a white elephant later for IT.

Our company survey showed that only 20% of the employees want to work from office post COVID. The message is clear, the IT industry going to embrace Work From Home model with only 25% working from an office in the future.

That means 50 to 75% of the current office spaces will be white elephants.

The companies now can invest more on the employee's training and well-being than investing in vain in buildings.
