Frankly im dissapointed...I was expecting better infrastructure considering the amount of money they spent on the cost of that mega project.

actually the goverment has started recieving oil revenues less than 2 or 3 years ago, so they didn't really change alot of things yet.

Yes, the photos were taken during a sandstorm. Sandstorms seems to be a normal occurrence for Khartoum, according to many galleries that I had observed. My 2 Cents.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

I have spent over 2 years in Khartoum on construction of Kartoum Nort Power Station. In 1992 the country appeared to be in total economical catastrophe with war, etnic and religious conflicts. And suddenly, without outsting the Regime, with the same rulers - such architecture, such investmenrs...
Unbelievable! I have also looked in Google Earth, where Khartoun is pretty well developed to high resolution and found many more new projects.

you guys don't know how much of a transition this is to khartoum, when i left the country 5-6 years ago it was nothing like this. sudan economy will grow by 15% percent this year and new investment will just keep raining.

What i don't underdstand about sudan is it's goverment, sometimes it feels like they are trying to turn around the country, and some times it seems like they are just some lucky bastards that got rule.
oh, and by the way this economic and policy change will not make us forget the 2 million lives they wasted in south sudan, or the genocide in darfur.

Mogadishu...Are you serious?

I wish it even looked at least half like this...Khartoum and Mogadishu are not very comparable, at least not yet.

Mogadishu used to be such a beautiful city back in the 60s and 70s, so I hear...not anymore...

Sorry...but mentioning that city gets me a little defensive, no offense to you.

What's going to happen to Sudan and Khartoum when the South decides to leave the North??
