Kinshasa: Hawkwood Properties will build the City of Congo River




This new township called "City of Congo River," will be built on the marshy site of the Congo River, according to the Minister of Decentralization and Regional Planning, Antipas Mbusa Nyamwisi.

The Minister of Decentralization and Regional Planning, Antipas Mbusa Nyamwisi, has welcomed the implementation of the proposed construction of a 25th township in the city of Kinshasa, called "City of the River Congo, on the marshy site of the Congo River.



Following a technical preparatory meeting in Kinshasa with several ministries with the Company "Hawkwood Properties, the minister Mbusa Nyamwisi stressed that the project covering 370 hectares, is an ambitious project as a result of the confidence reborn to lead the direction of the country with foreign investors.





President Joseph Kabila Kabange, he said, demonstrated his total commitment to implement this project through the construction of a modern city in the middle Congo River. The work will consist of bringing an island from marsh.





Minister Mbusa Nyamwisi also stressed that the project is part of the five initiatives of the Republic and contributes to the development of the city of Kinshasa.

Hawkwood Properties, are they from Australia?
Yeap, you got it right. Anonther Australian Compny is to build a US$3 Billion Aluminum pant in Westen DRC , but after the INGA III Dam is built. The dam will have 4,235 MegaWatts. and the Aluminum Plant will use 2000 MegaWatts . Bas-Congo Province will be on steroids.:cheers:

I cant wait to see this project taking off. This will definitely be the single and biggest construction project the country has see years. Hopefully I can have one of the property there. Butembo, keep on bringing the good ews. We need so many of these big projects to catch up for the last years the country has been in a virtual coma.

I cant wait to see this project taking off. This will definitely be the single and biggest construction project the country has see years. Hopefully I can have one of the property there. Butembo, keep on bringing the good ews. We need so many of these big projects to catch up for the last years the country has been in a virtual coma.
Now the Chinese are projecting on building 2,450,000 social housing.

Ce projet va s’étendre sur quatre phases dont la première comptera trois cent logements dans chaque province au prix qui serait à la portée de tous.

Le vice-Premier ministre chargé de la Reconstruction, Emile Bongeli a reçu mercredi dans son cabinet de travail, une délégation chinoise spécialisée dans la construction des logements sociaux.

A l’issue de l’audience, M. Zhang Kauyu, PDG de la société China national machinery et equipement import et export corporation (CMIC) a fait savoir qu’ils ont un projet de construction de deux millions quatre cent cinquante mille logements sociaux d’ici 2015 sur l’ensemble du territoire congolais.

Ce projet va s’étendre sur quatre phases dont la première comptera trois cent logements dans chaque province au prix qui serait à la portée de tous. Le vice-Premier ministre s’est dit intéressé par ce projet et souhaité qu’il se réalise dans un futur proche.

Will this project be built on reclaimed land or will some land be carved to form bodies of water attached to the Congo River?

Most of the marshland is east of Kinshasa and it is undeveloped and uninhabited.

Very nice project, though I wish they'd been more creative in finding a sutibal name for this new city. That name sounds very corny.

La cite du fleuve. I think the name is great gien the Islands Locations.


It's foreign private Investors. Not Congolese investors.
