Well the CBD anyway. I took a 2hr walk from my place around the edge and through the middle of Brisbane's CBD. Hopefully there are some new shots in here. The camera was my trusty little Nokia 6110, hence the poor quality with some of the shots when light and zoom are involved ;) Enjoy!

Start of the Journey from my balcony:

Spring Hill:

King Edward Park:

Botanic Gardens:

Hey pretty decent quality images for a little Nokia phone. Good work

Btw. Where is everyone??? For a sunny Saturday, i would have expected the CBD to be teaming with people. Looks absolutely dead though.
Cheers.

Most of the people stick to the central retail area where the cafe's are also located, there isn't that much in the other locations. I also try not to get many people in my pics, although that isn't the main reason.
Cool shots KJ. I especially like the shots from the Mall.

Although I think you missed the best shot of the Roma St Parklands which I believe is from the top of the hill beside College Rd, between the entry and Wickham Tce back over the fig trees/bunya pine/hoop pine. From there you get a glimse of the City but also realise how large an area is covered by the Parklands. Also, the fig trees in that ares of the Parklands are mighty impressive.

The CBD is generally pretty dead on Saturdays for some reason. Weekdays and Sundays are pretty packed.

Saturday mornings are the best times to take photos - as its absolutely dead.

I was in Sydney a few months back on the weekend - and it was much quieter than Brisbane. So I guess Brisbane does pretty well for its size considering.

I was in town last night (Friday) and it was teaming. I've discovered lately that I don't really like the crowds and couldn't wait to get out of there.

excellent photos.
yeah thats one thing different with brisbane and largeer cities like sydney. theres a fuc load of people in every shot, even sat morns.
brisbane is deserted? cant be that bad? this is what hapens in sydneys metro cities like chatswood and north sydney. weekends its empty.
brisbane has to start to attract people on weekends to be a world class city.

The only place in the CBD that is busy on weekends is the mall. There really isn't that mush else to visit in the cbd on weekends, but it really is that much different to parts of Sydney and Melbourne cbd's. It wouldn't be too hard to find empty areas of each of those cbd's on weekends either.
^^ most of the ppl attractors are in and around the queen street mall and down at the riverside markets. the rest of the city is pretty much closed down because who works on a saturday? the mall has most of the shopping, cinemas, entertainment and weekend day dining plus the casino.

also, you'd find southbank would be very busy on a weekend, particularly at night when its impossible to find a park and the bus station is well patronised well into the wee hours

Great pictures, a nice tour, especially the mall.

I like how Albert street has bit by bit become an entire mall for itself as well.

So many cranes and things happening, everytime I look at the city now all I can see is what is coming, and I can't wait!

Sydney CBD is dead on weekends as well. And Sunday nights in Brisbane are far busier than anything I've ecountered in Sydney.

Great photos KBrissy.

The city does look pretty dead, but i wouldn't say it is any quieter than Sydney overall. One of the reasons may be that few of the pictures were taken in the areas outside of Queen Street that there is significant pedestrian traffic or retail/food facilities- Albert st towards the botanic garden and Albert/George heading towards Roma Street.

Thanks for sharing. Lovely shot of the skyscraper canyon that runs down the hill along Creek St. You know for sure that Brisbane is a big city with a big downtown.

It's not often we see closeups of the bridgeclimbers on Storey Bridge.

And I have never liked Roma St station. Run down and in need of a major refurb.

Brizzychris, the southern part of the Sydney CBD is always a hive of activity on weekends especially in Chinatown and along George St to Town Hall. Plenty of people milling around. Paddys Markets is also there pulling in more people. :)

I have been to Pitt St Mall on Saturdays and is just as busy as during the week as visitors from the suburbs undertake their weekly shop.

I agree that Sydney is a lot like Brisbane when it comes to certain parts of the City being hives of activities while other parts are actually pretty quiet at night and on weekends. I am down there in Sydney quite often for work and always make sure that I stay near Chinatown/Darling Harbour, although there is a large amount of activity on Pitt St, at the Rocks and Circular Quay on weekends. Brisbane is pretty much the same with the hives of activity being the Mall, Fortitude Valley and Southbank. I'm not sure any district in Australia gets as busy on a Friday or Saturday night as Fortitude Valley.

the only place that really gets busy in the CBD on the weekend is the Queen Street Mall, other then that its mainly the fringes of the CBD like Caxton Street, The Valley, and Southbank where all the weekend activity is, Eagle Street Pier used to have markets and stuff but i havent being there for years on the weekend, that and the facts its a massive construction site.

Previously most of the developments in Brisbane havent really catered for facilities which attract many people to the city, its slowly changing, in the past few years new shopping centres and entertainment facilties have being built or upgraded, and hopefully with projects like Vision it should encourage more of it.
