kurdistan - to be another better Dubai

Iraqi Kurdistan or Kurdistan Region (Kurdish: Herêmî Kurdistanî, Arabic: إقليم كردستان ) is an autonomous Region since 1991 (de facto state) in Iraq.It borders Iran to the east, Turkey to the north, Syria to the west and the rest of Iraq to the south. Its capital is the city of Arbil , known in Kurdish as Hewlêr. The Region is officially governed by the Kurdistan Regional Government KRG.

Following the 1991 uprising of the Iraqi people against Saddam Hussein in Gulf war , many Kurds were forced to flee the country to become refugees in bordering regions of Iran and Turkey. A northern no-fly zone was established following the First Gulf War in 1991 to facilitate the return of Kurdish refugees. As Kurds continued to fight government troops, Iraqi forces finally left Kurdistan in October 1991, leaving the region to function de facto independently; however, Iraqi Kurdistan continues to view itself as an integral part of a united Iraq but one in which it administers its own affairs.

The three governorates of Duhok, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah comprise around 40,000 square kilometers and have a population of around 4 million.Disputes remain between the central Iraqi government and the Kurdish government about predominantly Kurdish territories outside the current borders of Iraqi Kurdistan.

Underground resources

KRG-controlled parts of Iraqi Kurdistan are estimated to contain around 45 billion barrels (7.2×10^9 m3) of oil, making it the sixth largest reserve in the world. Extraction of these reserves began in 2007. Iraq's former Baath regime controls the resources of Kirkuk and some parts of Mosul, cities claimed by the KRG to be included in its territory.

As of July 2007, the Kurdish government solicited foreign companies to invest in 40 new oil sites, with the hope of increasing regional oil production over the following 5 years by a factor of five, to about 1 million barrels per day (160,000 m3/d).Gas and associated gas reserves are in excess of 100 TCF.

Other underground resources that exist in significant quantities in the region include coal, copper, gold, iron, limestone (which is used to produce cement), marble, and zinc. The world's largest deposit of rock sulfur is located just southwest of Erbil (Hewlêr).

The hotel project is located between Erbil International Airport and downtown area. From the investment and operational perspective, the exclusiveness of the site and lack of alternative sites of equal quality is clearly a competitive advantage. The hotel is the core part of a self-sustainable, gated community targeting a growing local and expatriate community. The hotel is positioned in the 4-Star Plus market segment, comprising 300 guestrooms, 1,500 sqm of meeting and ballroom facilities, and 4 food & beverage outlets.

City of Slemani:

Intro

Sulaymaniyah (Kurdish: سلێمانی / Silêmanî); is a city in Iraqi Kurdistan. It is the capital of Sulaymaniyah Governorate and served as the capital of the Kingdom of Kurdistan from 1921 until 1924. Sulaimaniyah is surrounded by the Azmar Range, Goizja Range and the Qaiwan Range in the north east, Baranan Mountain in the south and the Tasluje Hills in the west. The city has a semi-arid climate with very hot and dry summers and very cold winters. Sulaimaniyah served as the historic capital of the Kurdish principality of Baban from 1784 to 1850.

The modern city of Sulaimaniyah was founded in 14th november 1784 by the Kurdish prince Ibrahim Pasha Baban who named it after his father Sulaiman Pasha. Because it was founded as the capital of a powerful Kurdish principality, Sulaimaniyah has developed into a large city with a population of about 759,508 people. It is the cultural center of the Sorani-speaking Kurds and an important economic center for Iraqi Kurdistan.

City of Kirkuk

This city is not under the KRG control yet but they are fighting under the constitutional law article 140 to join it into the autonomous region of Kurdistan. hence the city is neglected and not as advanced as the other 3 Kurdistan provinces .its not the oil the kurds are after there are plenty of oil in the 3 provinces but cos its a city formed by gutian kurds 2400 BC.

Originally the city was founded by Hurrian-related Zagros-Taurus (ancestors of the kurds) , dwellers who were known as Gutian (old kurdish tribe) people by lowland-dwellers of Southern Mesopotamia. Under its ancient name Arraphkha, Kirkuk was capital of Kingdom of Gutium which is mentioned in cuneiform records about 2400 BC.

The small Hurrian kingdom of Arraphka' of which modern Kirkuk was the capital, was situated along the southeastern edge of the area under Aryan Mittanian domination.[16] From 1500 to 1360 BC all kings of Assyria were vassals of kingdom of Mittani. Assyria's revolt against the Hurrian kingdom of Mittani probably led to fall of the kingdom in the 14th BC century and ultimately contributed to Mittani empires’s collapse.

Wow- some of these places look very nice! Good for Kurdistan!
What is good for Kurdistan region is also good for Iraq ;)
NICE ! but the currency thingi is a bit too much ! theres no country which has 2 diff currencies ! lol ... but i DONT think there will be a kurdish currency especially after the new Iraqi government which was made mainly by a help from Barazani !

Kurdistan is now the pride of all IRAQ <3
^^ me neither, especially since they want to revaluate the currency...the currency should be strong against the US in no time :) and im also glad to see kurdistan prospering
^^ me neither, especially since they want to revaluate the currency...the currency should be strong against the US in no time :) and im also glad to see kurdistan prospering
the currency was just a proposal and the KRG said theyll consider it but i dont see it happening as yet . :D
Only in Iraq would they propose the possibility of another currency ... once the governing officials are through with all this pettiness the country will then finally gain prosperity. :|
Doesn't all this prosperity depend on the control of Kirkuk?

well yes and no , its still within iraq but it has total independence from the iraqi government with own army parliament and borders with iraq . iraqis will need to apply for a visa to enter Kurdistan so its quite independent from iraq if you ask me.

its a de facto state within iraq .

these are half of the projects i have listed there are way many more projects under way.
wow looks very nice guys, kurds have a special place in my heart, hope one day u will finally get ur country, Israel and kurdistan would be a great alliance...!!! :)
thank you very much . indeed we will be
thread updated :)

Lol... I'm tired of making this statement on every forum..

1. KRG regions have more OIL then kirkuk
2. KRG has gas
3. KRG can attract tourism

Alot of people seem to think that as we get kirkuk we will declare a kurdistan, but think here for a second...

1. Kirkuk does not have access to sea
2. Kurdistan + kirkuk is still landlocked
3. Kirkuk is not a magical city that can solve number 2.
4. Kirkuks oil is damaged and soon will be worth less

Stop making this interpretation that it's 'kirkuk that helps kurdistans economy' no... kirkuk is not a magical city...

P.S: to the rest of the Iraqis, guys do you see how the media plays in our mind? they always add 'oil rich city' in front of kirkuk when obviously compared to other places in Iraq it's not..
nice pictures of kurdistan.

and have to agree with kurd123. the media's portrayal of all iraqi issues is horrendously inaccurate.

Kurdistan as an autonomous region of Iraq will certainly continue developing and prospering, and Iraqi arabs don't need visas (nor will they ever) to enter kurdistan (that would be a massive own goal for KRG blocking 90%+ of the customers for its tourist attractions, malls, hotels, condos etc...).
