we all know the main reason why they did the switch was due to the fact that they could have slightly similar working days with the western world, in order to boost business spendings in the region. having said that, it also makes logical sense to start the week on sunday since sunday in arabic means "day one". its funny how "day one" was actually day 2 all the time.
even in christian calendars, you see the week starting on sunday but economically-speaking monday is the first day of work. quite complicated, but i think its because nobody wanted to start the week with sunday since it was jewish-oriented.
