L.A. Is A Small Town

On the heels of Ferney and Aquamadoor possibly being high school classmates, I'm gonna start a thread on "small world" experiences you had randomly bumping into people in town.

Just today I and a friend (both of us are active in our Neighborhood Council) went to a Downtown Neighborhood Council reception at the top of City Hall.
We rode the Red Line there and on the platform we bump into another person involved in our neighborhood council (but whom we haven't seen in a while), he was on his way to an LAPD Press Conference at Parker Center (he was part of the May 1 marches and saw the melee that ensued). The three of us got off the train at Civic Center station, and as we got off, we saw yet another person in our neighborhood council group (who just left the event we were headed to) step down into the platform!

I seem to run into people on the Metro all the time. Once after going to the Valley, at the Universal City station I saw this guy dressed in Silver, Purple and Black...turns out he was an old friend of mine on his way Downtown to see a Kings game at Staples!

Plus a couple years ago I spotted someone sitting on the train who looked like a work associate I knew at the time...Then I went close, she looked at me, recognized me, and it was that person!

The Metro makes this city of 4,000,000 people much smaller...

my first job here was for panoram technologies. i stayed there for about 3-4 months. after that i went to work at another job for a year. then on to my current one. i worked there for about 2 months when i noticed this guy walking around the studio on a tour. ends up being my old boss from panoram, he was there looking at the facility. then a month or two later, his wife ends up being our secretary.

separate but related story. the job i worked at after panoram was a very small 2 man animation studio. job sucked, but thats not the point. after not hearing anything from him after two years i find out that someone i know from pittsburgh who moved here was looking for computer parts on ebay. she went to pick up the parts, asked why were they being sold, guy says he is selling the crap because his studio went under. so my friend buys the stuff and then asks me later on what the name of my old boss was. turned out to be the same guy...

though those arnt too random. as the computer animation industry really isnt that big anyhow.

In L.A. you always run into someone from back in the days or classmate, co~worker and whatnot.
Skyscraper city is a very small neighborhood. I have pretty good reason to believe that edgs25(the toast of Chicago) and I were students at UIC at the same time in the early sixties.

Hmm interesting, I go over to the some of the other forums and I swear there are threads all about high school and getting into college, etc. I always envision some 17 yr old for every poster on internet forums like this one. Don't know why.
There's a few Kidoz here and there. So usually they only post in the evening after they had supper and finish their homework assignments. Well you remember the drill, right?

What does that make me?
.... your an adult so move on!

Hey El question... by any chance did you ever lived in Burbank, say like 6 yrs ago. You resemble one of my buddies uncles (pinoy) hi's name was Richie. We dropped him off on this street called Lonila/lomita by Magnolia. In a light colored house...?
On the bus, last thursday, this cute girl got on. I got off the bus and didn't plan on doing anything for the night.

A couple hours later, my friend calls me and tells me that theyre all going to Amoeba, so I hop right on the bus and get there. I see the girl there.

I didn't do anything :-/

Wow, in 2001 I served on the Witness Protection Program, lived in the southeastern San Fernando Valley and had to assume the identity of someone's uncle...Hmmm...

Oh so it was Lomita, I wasn't too sure. since it's been soooooo long ago, so you heard of that street.
Not related to anyone here, but I ran into LABeauty from SSP on 3 totally different occasions (once on the subway, once at a Subway in downtown), and once while I was eating in Little Tokyo. We've become good friends.
