That is a STUPID stat. Most people don't outright own their homes. Most people are actually leasing a home from the banks. And we all know how much people have in their savings.

I even bolded it for you guys in the original post. They calculated financial worth excluding the market value of your current property. The equity you gain from the appreciation of your house is actually not calculated into your assets/liabilities anyways until you sell it. This study counted net worth EXCLUDING their homes.
