Originally the tallest building in Augusta, GA, this is now the second tallest after Riverplace Condominiums. Construction was started on the building in 1913, though a fire in 1916 delayed its completion for several years. In 1973, State Senator Eugene Holly commissioned the blue plate glass penthouse addition at the top. It was built by I.M. Pei and cost $500,000. In 1979, the Lamar Building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, nearly 90 years later, it is still the most beautiful and recognizable building in the Augusta skyline.

I love the building, the old part of the building that is.... The addition and the penthouse on top really take away from this great building! I love lots of the detailing on it. It gets pretty elaborate on the top!
If it wasnt for the addition on the building I would give it a 9, I love historic buildings!
with the penthouse and all probably a 7.5
