The cost to didn’t look real. Until I read all weather gravel road.

What would be the cost of a concrete road for those 453km?

(A10) lamu-ijara-garissa(257km) will be tarmacked to class A standards to link up with the newly tarmacked nuno-modogashe(135km) road near garissa.people are having a hard time to grasp this.

The rest of spur roads leading eastwards to somalia border will be gravelled to all weather roads.

As for the cost, kenha seems to be cost effective with class A highways in the country side.

For comparison sake, lets look at some of the recent similar trunk roads constructed or are being constructed recently.

Lokichar-nakodok(A1)-338km-ksh 31billion.

Kibwezi-kitui-migwani(A9)-192km-ksh18billion.

Nuno-modogashe (c81)-135km-ksh7billion.

Isebania-kisii-ahero(A1)-172km-ksh18billion.

Kisumu-kakamega-webuye-kitale(A1)-146km-ksh17billion.

Narok-sekenani gate (B7)-82km-ksh2billion.

Mau mau roads (B)-540km-ksh30billion.(way cheaper).

If you do the maths they range at the same price per km.

We mostly document free ways in this forum which are high value due to cities landscape and what not,so when we see reasonable prices for country side highways we tend to under value.

Pricing for some selected cities free ways.

Nairobi express way-27km-ksh62billion.

Nairobi Western bypass-17km-ksh17billion.

Dongo kundu phase one-11km-ksh11billion.

The difference is staggering between cities freeways and country side highways for obvious reasons.
