LA's Problems

One problem in LA, public transportation. You definitely need a car.

I'm from Europe and I visited LA 1 month ago!
It's a great city and I love it!!
I think that the biggest problem of LA is the number of homeless ... In Europe, we don't use to see them so much!
I hope that the city will fix this problem soon and LA will be perfect ...

As a courtesy to your question. Well let's see what is it about Los Angeles I don't like. Oh yea I got it we never get snowed in to where we miss work and get paid for it. Here's another too much sun year round where you can develop a skin infection....ouch!

No not really. Maybe where you live, but many parts of LA you can get around on bus. I know quite a few people who catch the bus to many places. The thing i like about LA is that even though its really good to have a car, you can still get around by bus or train pretty easy.

But the problem is, LA has too many damn parking lots! Walking around Downtown, its way too many parking lots!

Well, let's all be careful about this one....First of all, NYC has great things to offer to anyone as much as LA. I've said this before (and seems like you've admitted it too), it isn't so much the city that has the problems but your relationship with it. Whenever you live in a big city, it comes with big city problems and big city advantages. The questions to ask yourself: do I have a job that I love and pays enough for me to live comfortably in the city? do I make friends easily? do I have other interests other than my work? If you answer YES to these questions then any city for that matter will work for you. The point is to engage the city you live in...each city has it's own rhythms, culture and idiosyncracies. To visit LA in just a few days or even weeks and make a judgement call will never be enough to fully appreciate what this city has to offer. That's the mistake most visitors make. LA is a complicated, complex creature, revealing itself in multiple layers over time. Definitely not a single-impression city, thus making it a far more interesting place to be in. You'll always have problems anywhere you go....so pack your bags and we will welcome you!

Traffic is a huge problem in LA. But then again, its a huge problem in NY too. If you move to LA try to live near a metro rail station.

PURE AND SIMPLE. TRAFFIC. LA IS UNQUESTIONABLY THE BEST METRO WHEN YOU COMBINE URBANISM, ART, CULTURE, CREATIVITY, DIVERSITY, ACCESS TO ACTIVITIES (BEACH/MOUNTAINS/DESERT), NIGHTLIFE, THE PEOPLE, WEATHER, THE VIBE. Well said "CarsonBro". If you move to Azusa or Pomona, so be it. You'll need a car. But if you move to Hollywood and/or the urban core and work downtown or even work in Pasadena or as far as Long Beach or even Noho you won't need a car. I know plenty of people who live, work and play in the Hollywood,NOHO to downtown area who don't ever drive. That's an outdated way of thinking about LA. Though having a jalopy in the city is an added +, seeing that the transit system is still evolving.

How do you know all of this? You've been stuck living in one metro area your whole life. From the sounds of your posts it sounds like you have never moved or lived anywhere else.

New York is nicer than Chicago 3 more months out of the year? Chicago's weather sucking for all of Spring, Summer and Fall (9 months)? Holy crap man, what planet are you living on.

Having lived in both places (New York and Chicago), you have proven to me you have no idea what you are talking about. Which is my point... you constantly say that LA is the best in EVERYTHING yet you have been living in a bubble your whole life and haven't even moved or lived anywhere else!

BACK TO WHAT YOU ASKED ABOUT. LA'S ONLY BIG PROBLEM IS TRAFFIC AND CONGESTION, OTHER THAN THAT IT IS A GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT PLACE TO LIVE. THE TRAFFIC CONGESTION AND DENSITY IS PARTLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS SUCH A GREAT PLACE TO BE.
