Awesome pictures! Yeah, Bauska seems indeed a very cute town, although rather little but really charming!

Some rural sceneries from Zemgale region.

Winter shots from January 2009 of rural sceneries besides Bauska-Riga (Via Baltica) road.

One of the small villages besides road

Forest (about 7 km long) in the middle between Bauska and Riga.

Here (20 km to south from Riga centre) starts Ķekava town - part of Riga urban area.

Poplars are one of my favourite trees, they associates with my childhood. Too bad that they've been hewed out massively in the last 10-15 years.

We switch to spring/summer mode. The same poplars.

Via Baltica between Bauska and Iecava.

Small rural road

Iecava town (pop. 6000) - when I was in some 3rd grade, our class went to excursion to Riga, and when we reached Iecava I thought it's Riga because of these massive commieblocks :)

Rapeseed meets poppies (in the halfway between Bauska and Iecava)

This poppies field attracted so much attention from passing drivers that some 10-20 cars stayed in the roadside. Even some Chinese or Japanese tourists with big TV cameras filmed there.

The old spooky house - opposite side to poppies field.

Another rapeseed field - this one located on Eleja-Bauska road, close to Bauska.

Cow herds in Latvian countryside were very common view in Soviet times. Nowadays, it's rather rare phenomenon.

Potato field besides Jelgava-Iecava road, close to Iecava

I somehow missed this thread. It is very interesting to see some countryside photos of Latvia. I'm planning a quick day trip to some places in Latvia in the end of April so hopefully the trees and fields will be green by then.

Hmm, in the end of April usually only the first light-green leafs have appeared. The green trees in southern Latvia comes apporximately the same time when in Lithuania, while in Northern Latvia it could be some days or week later.
