Lebanon is the only place in the middle east
where talented rock musicians exist...
I would like to introduce you some of my favorite Lebanese
rock bands!

The Kordz's "Last Call" became a huge hit in Lebanon in 2004.
It's a pity they are not doing their activities lately...

*LUmi
LUmi is a relatively new duo band by Marc Codsi and Mayaline Hage.
Marc used to work as a guitarist at another band "Scramble Eggs",
and now focusing on the duo activity.
Here is their music video "Don't **** with my cAt"

Both of them are genuine made-in-Lebanon bands and really cool...I wish them good luck!!

Let's share any other good Lebanese bands you know!!
(not only in Lebanon but Lebanese bands working out of Lebanon are fine:) )

The only place in the middle east?
We have a big metal scene in israel
^^by 'middle east' we usually just mean the arab countries...

They look cool...what about their music? would like to know their details!

Yup I m also curious to know if there is any arabic rock music out there.
As far as I know, all of them are sung in foreign languages (majority is in English).

Yup..I should have said "Arab countries" not "Middle East",
but..if I say "Arab", some Lebanese people, especially Christian
would be offended, because some of them regard themselves as Phoenician discendants, not Arabs. Some Lebanese Christians living in the mountain area only speak French in their families because they hate to be identical with Arab world by using Arabic language.

I understand their feelings because some Japanese also hate to be called "Asian" because some of them do not regard Japan as part of Asia. "Asia"'s image in Japan is "poor, unsophisticated, not clean area".
Lebanon is also part of Asia(they held Asia Cup 2000), but how many Lebanese people regard themselves as Asian??
Arab just refers to a person that speaks Arabic as a first language, regardless of his/her ethnic origins. So I don't know why some people should find it offensive.
^^ 95% of the lebanese are arabs.
Back to The Topic :)
^^ I reakon back to the topic someone allways has to start somthing !
ive never herd Arabic rock before ! i sould sould youtube it. i wounder if there is Arabic RnB lol
There is arabic rap, arabic trance ...
i'd like to get some names if possible, arabic hip hop...can people name some? so far i've heard of Ramallah Underground, MBS, Soldiers of Allah and Clotaire K as far as arabic hip hop goes, it's hard to get where i'm at, but if anyone could list some names, links, sites or whatever of any genre (rock, hip hop, trance, world, anything i'm open), but sung in arabic, that would be greatly appreciated, i have some arabic music, but i want something beyond the norm/mainstream
Lead singer Serj Tankian from "System of A Down"(U.S.band),
is Armenian and he was born in Lebanon.

many lebanese bands...
^^ that's good that there aren't many mainstream Lebanese bands.... when most bands go mainstream, they do it for the money and sell out to the big record companies so at that point it's done only for the money instead of the music. Besides, if you really look at it, modern mainstream rock is just depressing, sometimes aggravating, broken crap (just give a US rock station a listen and tell me modern rock isn't designed to make you bipolar).

It's awesome to hear SOAD is Lebanese-Armenian, finally get to fully enjoy their music (tho I don't listen to their genre anymore tbh).
Agree, mainstream rock doesn't have a soul

You are absolutely correct.
Some Lebanese musicians hate to be "mainstream".
They are afraid of losing their souls by becoming an ordinary pop stars on TV.
But most of them realize that they must compromise somewhere to gain money in order to continue their activities.

But high piracy rate in Lebanon prevents them from getting sales on CDs
and discouraging their activities...

Here is an article from Daily Star about Piracy in Lebanon

------------------------------------------
Lebanon fails to crack down on rampant piracy
Software, music, movies, books rates top in region
Despite government promises to protect copyright, illegal copies abound

BEIRUT: Lebanon's piracy rates for any copyrighted product - be it software, music, movies, games or books - are by far the highest in the Middle East region and the latest study on music piracy released by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) strongly reiterates that firm action needs to be taken rapidly.

However, the lack of political will in Lebanon to protect copyrighted products has allowed street-corner peddlers of pirated copies to easily chew into the market share of legitimate distributors. According to several studies conducted on behalf of copyright holders, Lebanon's software piracy stood at 74 percent, while motion pictures piracy stood at 80 percent, entertainment software piracy at 80 percent and music piracy at 70 percent.

"The main problem in Lebanon is that politicians are not willing to commit themselves to fighting piracy," said music division manager at Virgin Megastore, Mohammed Hamzi, who also happens to be the lead singer of local rock n' roll band The Kordz. "I truly believe that they don't understand the meaning of copyright," he added.

And such lax attitude has infringed on the success of many local artists: The Kordz, for example, who last year had a huge hit single - "Last Call" - barely made a penny from a song that was aired over and over again on radio stations.

"Three thousand legitimate copies of our single were sold last year. But if the protection of copyrighted products was enforced in Lebanon, we could have easily sold over 15,000 copies," Hamzi said.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

So, Lebanese themselves are discouraging those talented new artists...
if this situation continues, really talented artists would go abroad.
You are absolutely correct.

It's the same in all countries,
