Lebanese maps give Israel more territorial water

Despite claims of gas reserves 'theft', maps drawn up by Lebanon, Cyprus show Israel relinquished large area in sea

While Lebanon claims Israel "stole" some of its natural gas reserves and "invaded" its territorial waters, it appears the Israeli border drawn up in Lebanese maps is further to the north than determined by Israel, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Wednesday.

Consequently, it appears that not only did Israel not seize Lebanese maritime zones, but in fact relinquished some of its own waters.

After the discovery of the Tamar gas site and reports of gas reserves in the Leviathan site, Lebanon claimed that some of the reserves are located within Lebanese territory. However, Lebanese maps paint a wholly different picture.

While Lebanon's conflict with Israel does not allow the two countries to jointly examine their borders. This is not the case with Cyprus. Hence, Lebanon and Cyprus have conducted a joint examination of their territorial waters, a move that also demarcated the two countries' border with Israel.

According to Cypriot naval maps, a line stretched from Rosh Hanikra to the joint Lebanese-Cypriot border is further to the north than the line drawn by Israel.

Yedioth Ahronoth previously reported that Israel and Cyprus are secretly engaged in jointly mapping out their maritime border.

What is "sooooooooooooooo" sad is you think we would start a war over this... lol
well, the article doesn't really say anything.
if the maps are between Lebanon and Cyprus then how does that relate to israel?

oh and the article says: "According to Cypriot naval maps, a line stretched from Rosh Hanikra to the joint Lebanese-Cypriot border is further to the north than the line drawn by Israel. "

not according to Lebanese naval maps.

Ynet is such a credible source obviously..right guys??

I tend to give them more credit then other Isro-Jewish sources, Like Israel Today or The Jewish Chronicle. I found them as biased as Fox News, Press TV and Al Jazeera.
Israel and Cyprus do not have neighbouring territorial waters...the article is probably talking about Exclusive Economic Zones.

But that would be like Dubai Boy telling us that Al Jazeerah is better (or less bad) than Al Manar.

Have you ever read any of its articles?
^^

It lost all credability after how it started reporting news from Turkey after the flotilla raid. And I am not talking about how it handled the news about the flotilla raid.

What did they do?
It started calling PKK terrorists "freedom fighters" and it started reporting operations against PKK camps as "Turkey bombing innocent Kurds". No newspaper calling itself credible did that in the US or Europe, the terrorists have been called rebels, they have been called insurgents, they have been called millitants, etc but never "freedom fighters" and not oe of those newspapers accused Turkey with bombing "innocent Kurds".

^^ Chemical... Man, that's so fkd up!

And the Muslim world just dont care... Amazing.

Of course they would start a war over this, and even over hummus!!
Just like they threatened to start a war over a little land = Shebba Farms when its NOT belong to Lebanon at all!!! Not even one little inch!

There are more examples Muslim will start problems just like over MOHAMMAD CARTOONS, South Park vs Mohammad, and so on. Too many noisy over LITTLE THINGS.

So yes, they would probably possibly start a war over this water/oil/gas, obviously!

no not that, btw that hasn't been confirmed either. Again you see ynet jumping on it as if it was confirmed. Like I said for me it has lost all credibility because it reports on a country based on whether that country is on good terms with Israel or not.

If it was chemicals it is the type Israel uses on Palestinian civilians so I would shut up if I were you.

Who said it was confirmed? It was clearly stated as a report from a German newspaper, the Israeli media often uses that newspaper when it comes to the Middle East, Israel included.
It's an independent Israeli newspaper so obviously it is affected by the opinions of the Israeli public. However, there is a big difference between doing this and lying.

Yeddiot Ahronot (ynet.co.il) and Maariv (nrg.co.il) are Israel's two biggest newspapers and are pretty objective. Haaretz is affiliated with the Israeli left while Israel Today is affiliated with the Israeli right, although not as noticeably as Haaretz.

*edit*

I think you understood me wrongly- I didn't bring this article because it was about Turkey using chemicals on Kurd rebels but because I searched "Kurds" in Ynet and this was the first report with full English translation that I found.

After the flotilla incident Russel posted some news about Turkey from ynet, there it was making those claims I was talking about.
