yesterday Leeds signed four players in one day, for the first time since....forever?

Players coming in are:

Jamie Ashdown, 31, Goalkeeper (ex Portsmouth)
Rodolph Austin, 27, Midfielder (ex SK Brann)
Luke Varney, 29, Winger (ex Portsmouth)
Andy Gray, 34, Striker (ex Barnsley)

also seen around Elland Road & strong rumoured to be coming in soon are:

Lee Peltier, 25, Defender, Leicester City
David Norris, 31, Midfielder, Portsmouth
Matthew Kilgallon, 28, Defender, Sunderland
Nicky Maynard, 25, Striker, West Ham
Lewis McGugan, 23, Winger, Nottingham Forest
David Templeton, 23, Winger, Heart of Midlothian
Stephen Dobbie, 29, Striker, Swansea City
Martin Cranie, 25, Defender, Coventry City

additionally, left back/left winger Aidan White has just signed a new 3-year contract, and winger (and captain) Robert Snodgrass is rumoured to be on the verge of doing so too. Ross McCormack, however, looks to be heading to the exit having failed to agree a new deal.

Still transfer listed are:

Andy O'Brien, Defender
Ramon Nunez, Winger
Paul Rachubka, Goalkeeper
Paul Connolly, Defender
Billy Paynter, Striker

Word is the deal is nearly done, with just a few things to tie up this week. Though Bates has managed to lose us premier league football IMO (new contracts for Beckford & the side we had in 2010/11 would have gone up with Norwich), the club is now in a strong position. We've a good manager, made some astute signings (McCormack, Pearce, Kenny & Austin) and have a cracking bunch of kids coming through (Alex Cairns, Nathan Turner, Lewis Turner, Charlie Taylor, Zac Thompson, Sam Byram, Tom Lees, Aidan White & Dominic Poleon). With the riches of our prospective new buyers, it should be good times ahead.

I really don't understand how Bates still has people who think he's doing a good job at the club. Under his reign we have sold Snodgrass, Howson, Gradel, Delph, Richardson, Schmeichel, Rose, Garbutt & Kilgallon, and failed to sort new contracts with Johnson, Kilkenny & Beckford, plus the money we got for Taiwo & Woods from Chelsea. With that we have invested feck all, and built new boxes on the East Stand when we couldn't fill the ones we had in the South.

With more effective management, pricing & relations with the fans, we could be watching a Leeds team of:

Kenny, Pearce, Byram, Austin, Johnson, Diouf, Becchio.

A team with only 5 foreign players, 7 academy products, and 6 other players we'd picked up as bargain deals and turned into stars.

**** Bates. BATES OUT.
