A new residential development by FWJK in uMhlanga. Horrible name on this one. They are also set to be TINY apartments, i presume the "new york style" language is to get around saying tiny studio.

They're launching this in Cape Town and Durban simultaneously. It seems Lil' Apple will be their micro apartment brand across the country.
Interesting, you would have thought they would have got some marketing people on board because the name is just terrible.
that shelf above the sofa... is it on a pivot so that it stays horizontal while you pull the murphy bed down or do you have to take all your sh*t off the shelf and replace it on the ground?

well if you look at the pic of the bed being down, all the shelf and its stuff are now on the floor under the bed.... i am sure most of it would have fallen on tis journey.

This is a very cramped apartment, more designed for student living
Lil' Apple? Are we living in Georgia or Texas now
Somebody hit me, whats this New York style apartment nonsense?
As I said in my opening post I think it is bullshit I stead of staying tiny poor person apartment

Unfortunately at around R800k (for the CPT one at least) these are not poor people apartments either....
Sigh... I'm getting really tired of this trend in all SA cities of only building apartments for the top 10% or so. Where are the mass cheap apartments you see in Asian cities?
Or even in Luanda and Dar es Salaam. They're not pretty but much better than SA shacks and cheaper and more efficienent to build en masse than the single story RDP houses.

Its very simple..

These are being built by private developers to generate a decent return... mass cheap apartments don't do that...

Government needs to do something to make that type of building more attractive to developers.
