They stopped broadcasting on the net. They announced that they moved to sort of internet TV provider where you have to subscribe to watch them. Zacharie is supposed to have a TV channel where Lingala Facile is broadcasting and you have to subscribe to that. About 135$ to bu the decoder and 15$ for your monthly fees. I understand he is trying to be profitable but that is not interesting for us.

here is their website.

www.oraotv.com

Let me know if you're going to subscribe.
Bababaswe’s move might look (to him) financially attractive but it might turn out to be a fatale mistake. Nobody in his right mind will spend such an amount of money just to view “Lingala Facile”. Even if there are some die-hards who are ready to dig deep into their pockets, the broadcast area is limited to North America, as opposed to the worldwide audience they have hitherto enjoyed. Out of sight, out of mind, the saying goes. Soon, most of the people outside the DRC will have forgotten them. There are already many Congolese websites poised to fill the gap.

I know a site that has lingala courses, and courses for about 10 other African languages.

FSI Language Courses, no text but it's all listening from tape (just click on it and windows media will play it).

This website, National African Language Resource Center has books for 13 African languages, Lingala included. You can use them, if you speak English and are willing to pay for a book from them.

Their Lingala is expensive! The software edition is $50 dollars and hardcover $80, but it came out 6 years ago. Here it is:
Tosolola na Lingala (whatever that means :D)

Let talk in Lingala.
^^ I was on Mashada.com looking at a forum listing some random Lingala words, and for a minute I thought it was Swahili. I didn't understand it, but it looked as if it could have been swahili.

Is Lingala tonal?

They are both Bantu languages, hence the similarities .

Nini (Swahili) = Nini (Lingala) = What (in English)

Wapi(Swahili) = Wapi ( Lingala) = Where ( In Englsih).

But then Swahili gets tricky.

Congolese Swahili accent and Vocab.

Tanzania and Kenya Swahili.

Maji = Water

Kuja apa = Come here.

Uza = To sell

Nyumbani = At home.

Tisa = Nine (9)

Ishirini = 20

Bisikeli = Bicycle

Kinga = protect (I think).

Congolese Swahili.

Mayi = Water

Kuya apa = Come here.

Uza = To buy.

Kuyyumba = At home

Kenda = Nine (9).

Makumi mbili = 20.

Kinga = Bicycle.

Just a little tip.

Oui, je parle l'anglais. Je vais regarder ces liens avec attention. Mais je pense qu'il doit être possible de trouver une méthode d'apprentissage français-lingala.

I already speak some words of swahili, therefore I hope it will be easier to learn lingala.
