This is a rehearsal for the 2012 Closing Ceremony. 1,000 of the torchbearers will return, and they will finally have one big bonfire!!

Finally, we'll see the Fiesta de Fiera in full, which NBC cut out of the Barcelona 1992 closing.

Shrek, you're turning into a troll.
Oh, lighten up! Life is too short to be such a grinch, jd!!
To be honest JD I like Knitemplars enthusiasm.

Y thank you, koal4e--a person after me own heart.

People here take things like the O's too seriously. Too reverentially as a matter of fact; even Greeks I know think the old Games were nothing but a period of hijinks! ;)

George Micheal could be car crash viewing....
Do note the 'source' through: it came from a 'committee source' talking to the Daily Mirror. I'd take this with a pinch of salt until it is officially confirmed by London 2012, as Paul McCartney has been for the Opening Ceremony...

The entire closing ceremony should be an Olympic special of It's A Knockout.

I do worry about him these days, you never know what you might get when he shows up!
Stop the music, put all the lights on and get some fat-necked security guards in hi vis jackets to firmly usher everyone out.
The Olympic Flag made its debut at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp, Belgium. At the end of each Olympic Games, the mayor of that host-city presents the flag to the mayor of the next host-city. It then rests at the town hall of the next host-city for four years until the Opening Ceremony of their Olympic Games.

Every time a country hosts the Olympics, a new emblem is created, with new meaning behind its conception.

Only until LA 1984. After that, starting with Calgary 1988, the flag exchange happens at the Closing Ceremony.
