Fulham on Wednesday confirmed work on their £100million project to redevelop the Riverside Stand at Craven Cottage will begin this summer.

Owner Shahid Khan always maintained the redevelopment, which will increase the capacity of Craven Cottage to around 30,000, would not be affected by relegation.

The plans will see the existing stand demolished and replaced by a new two-tier structure.

Fulham have previously estimated the project will take two years to complete and they will spend two seasons with just three sides of Craven Cottage open during the redevelopment.

There's a new installation in the river adjacent to the riverside stand. Either to install a crane or mooring for barges to take away the old stand.

Think demolition starts soon

I love this project, and I live just a few streets away. I love how that stretch of riverbank - hitherto inaccessible - will be opened to public as part of Thames Path, a model example of planning gain.

£100m...for one lousy new stand?

WTF!
It is a little bit more than a "lousy" stand. They are actually building a new piece of the foreshore. Foundations in such location might be an issue, on top of that you have significant operations on the water and under water.

This is actually much bigger job than it might look initially.

Got down to see Villa get knocked out of the FA Cup a few weeks ago. Will be a shame to lose this view, but the new stand will be a great addition. Looking at the render, will the path along the river be closed to the public on match days?
