Riverside South? Didn't JP Morgan unveil new plans in October? I know it's on hold but does that mean it shouldn't be included? Obviously great work by the way.

Schemes like Riverside South and 18 Blackfriars Road (formerly 20 Blackfriars Road) will be included once we have more concrete information on their future.

Amazing to see 30+ 100m towers U/C in London at the moment. Hopefully a couple years more for others to join the list.

On aside note I found this recent article quite interesting when you see the hysterics a 250m tower has in London when across the globe towers of almost twice that height are becoming increasingly common.

Thanks SE9, excellent update and it shows how busy London's building boom is and in the near future. Does the South Quay Plaza include the second phase? If not shouldn't that be included or do we wait for proposals to become approvals?

In respect of the Dezeen listing of the 10 world's tallest. I honestly don't like most of them. The Shanghai Tower and 101 Marina are the only two I consider of decent style. I'm afraid Vinoly has not pulled it off with that NYC stick.

‘Build on Green Belt or the capital will be dominated by skyscrapers’
JONATHAN PRYNN

The capital could end up looking like 'Dubai on Thames' if policy on the Green Belt is not relaxed, a think tank has claimed.

London will turn into a “Dubai on Thames” dominated by skyscrapers for the wealthy unless restrictions on building homes on the Green Belt are lifted, the author of a report claims today.

Tom Papworth, of free-market think tank the Adam Smith Institute, said the “unsustainable” policy of protecting Green Belt land from almost any development would lead to further high-rise blocks having to be built in the capital, and house prices continuing to soar.

Yeah that’s right , allowing people to move to the middle of nowhere out in zone 6 will overnight stop anymore towers on the Thames.

The sooner people realise a population the size of Birmingham and Sheffield will move to London in the next 15 years and stop getting into hysterics over tall buildings and new transport infrastructure that will involve some demolition to get build the more people can have a grown up debate.

I would love to know from the new Mayoral candidates where all these people are going to live and what policies they will progress to achieve this( hint- it’s not going to be in two storey houses lining quiet leafy streets).

From the same think tank that published an article this summer arguing for slums to be built in London

The Think Tank (what a load of uninformed) & Jonathan Prynn have little imagination when it comes to similes; These alleged 'experts' were previously using the term 'mini-Manhattan' or 'Manhattan-on-Thames' to instill fear and loathing for the future of London - now its 'Dubai-on-Thames' - how very Cliché-ridden and hackneyed. 90% of Dubai is low-build and even shanty. I used to live there so I know. Perhaps they should see for themselves. Why not Sydney-on-Thames for a change?

As for building on green belt. That is a no-no. Better to make London high rise so that those folk who hate tall buildings can move far away and out of sight out to the green belt.

Bizarrely, they have illustrated the piece with a photo of The Address Downtown Hotel, that was recently severely damaged by fire. Is that an omen for London's future or was it the only ready photo that was at hand!
