London skylines and more

A few shots of London from Alexandra Palace and Victoria Dock in East London. I was intending to get to some other locations 'with a view' but unfortunately ~1/2 of London underground was shut and therefore transportation options got extremely limited. This starts to drive me mad because every weekend it's all about 'engineering works' and it has been so since I came to London for the first time 5 years ago. The funny thing is that I have never felt any improvements anywhere whatsoever! :bash:

Anyway, back to photos now :)

1.
General view from Alexandra Palace which is located in Northern part of London and offers large open views including the skylines of the City and Canary Wharf

2.
City of London skyline... not too much to look at at the moment. It should improve in a few years time

3.
Broadgate Tower looking quite tragic from this angle

The new B2007 Docklands Light Railway stock... looking slightly better than the old ones but inside it's the same old story - no aircon, horrible ride comfort and that terrible shaking even on straight tracks (anyone knows why?). I had to use this 'thing' only because the Jubilee Line was shut (again usual story on weekends).

The London DLR is an example of how NOT to make a light railway. Despite running on elevated tracks that never cross any other transport routes at the same level, it's very slow and generally uncomfortable. The problem is that there are too many turns and they are too sharp so the train has to slow down. Well-planned systems only make either sharp 90 degree turns in few locations and then straight all the way till the next turn or very low degree turns which allow the train to keep running fast. This is surprising, knowing that the DLR was opened quite recently (in early 90's) and they surely had capabilities to make it better

Victoria Dock which is one of a few modern 'oases' in London developed in a former dock area and built up with new residentials, hotels and the huge ExCeL center which is one of Europe's largest exhibition and convention centers

One of the reasons to come there - unrivaled view of Canary Wharf

Great photos, Pansori! Hard to believe, but this was the first time I saw London's skyline. :(
Very nice shots indeed @Pansori, thanks for sharing them
Thank you guys. I know most of these photos (especially the second batch) look very common and 'seen before'. In fact, I'm struggling to find any new and unseen angles. Perhaps I'll try to think of something next time.

@RipleyLV
Oh really? That is really hard to believe knowing all those discussions of 'the best skyline in Europe'. London's skyline cannot compare to Frankfurt or La Defense at the moment but it is still worth mentioning among the top European skylines.
