Hi Everyone!

I am from China and I am going to Victoria Island Lagos for business in early July. Could anybody recommend some hotels/motels options? I heard before the hotels were overpriced.

We need a secured accommodation with reasonable price.

Looking for help from you guys. Thanks a lot!

You heard right. Lagos hotels are quite expensive (especially on the islands of Ikoyi and Victoria Island), but you might want to try the new Chinese-owned Lagos Oriental Hotel on Lekki Road, Victoria Island (+234-1-280-6600).

Other Victoria Island hotels include the Eko Hotels and Suites (which is expensive but offers relatively more options and activities), the newly-rebuilt Federal Palace Hotel, the Protea Victoria Island and the Protea Kuramo Waters (Victoria Island Extension), the Victoria Crown Plaza (no relationship to the Intercontinental Group's Crowne Plaza branded hotels), or boutique hotels such as the Blowfish, Suite XVIII, or the Scarlet Lodge.

I think you'll have to searched those hotels websites for prices. For the security reason, I was told Nigerian hotels are quite secured. Have a nice time and don't forget to post comment about your visit here,DK2009.I want to know how it's really like to visit Nigeria.
Hey brothers, thank you so much for all your useful information! Actually we are going there to meet the local mobile operators. Really looking forward to seeing Lagos, an amazing place!
Will share the pictures with all of you after the visit!
Bon chance! I am looking forward to see the pictures.

An agent recommend a hotel named Lekki Heights Hotel. The rates look good. One suite is only 25000N.not sure about the security. any ideas?

But it's around 56000N for one classic superior room in Lagos Oriental Hotel.

Sorry, but I do not know anything about this particular hotel. However, Lekki is a nice and reasonably safe part of Lagos.

You may want to further try the discussion forum at Oyibos Online (the Expats Guide to Nigeria) http://www.oyibosonline.com/index.shtml. Many of the forumers there have far more "specialist" knowledge of these matters.

The Lekki height is overpriced for such facilities avalaible. For the security, the victorial Island seems to be one of the most secured area of Lagos --- according to my discussion with some Nigerans. I think you should also check out the websites of previous hotels listed by JoblessBeggar.
try ikoyi its also as secured as victoria island.

What's the different between them? I was think Ikoyi is inside Victorial Island.
nope ikoyi is north of victoria island.you have to take a bridge to get to ikoyi from VI. try using google earth to get a better understanding.
i would guess ikoyi. but i really dont know at the moment. jobleessbeggar can answer that question.

Personally, I do not think that either one is necessarily more secure than the other. Both areas are relatively secure, but personally I would not stay in Ikoyi if I worked in VI. The traffic on Falomo Bridge, going from Ikoyi to VI, at rush hour (morning and evening) is unbearable and would probably add an hour or more to the commute. That's one of the reasons that the LASG is looking to fast-track the Ikoyi-Lekki bridge (towards which Julius Berger has mobilized to site).

Another thing is that while Ikoyi is not quite (and will probably never be) the business hub that VI is, its character has nonetheless undergone (and is still undergoing) a rapid and remarkable transformation. Accordingly, almost all of those old colonial houses with huge compounds have been (or are being) replaced by multi-story multi-family condos, a couple of new multi-story hotels are under construction, and Kingsway Road (now Alfred Rewane Road) and Awolowo completely commercialized as well as parts of SW Ikoyi (along Keffi Road, etc).

Can I find any hotels rates between $250 and $300 per night in Vi? By the way, what's the exchange rate between Naira and USD?

I agree with you. I was told that there will be heavy traffice between this two places. And we would rather stay in Vi where most the mobile operators locate, because we are going to meet them.
